I am wondering if anyone has broken a lease without penalty?
Need to break a lease in the near future and was told by manager that lease cant be broken. Well the reason for needing to move is want/need to move to a better place with more safety things in place.
I have read online to get a Doctor to write a letter, which I will do.
But there is no way that can pay any type of penalty, do not have money for that ![]()
I am hoping that someone or some of you can offer some help and advice you know will work. Thank you ![]()

No I haven't but it will depend on the terms of the lease and the amount left to pay. Seriously you may have to seek the advice of an attorney. Good luck.

breaking a lease is tough.......breaking a lease without penalty is even tougher.
you will risk having to go to court if you leave without having the situation handled.
i agree, seek advice from a lawyer regarding this. not sure how a note from a doctor will be of help.

Good morning,
Yes, I broke a lease 30+ years' ago. A friend gave me a name of a lawyer to go to. The reason for breaking the lease -- all set to move in ... paid my rent and deposits ... was supposed to get keys to storage ... landlord forgot to leave keys with realtor ... my car was packed with expensive tools (hubby was already miles away for the year). Long story short -- lawyer wrote a letter to break the lease and back then her letter cost $750; well worth not having to pay the full years' rent.
Good luck.

Read your lease. What does it say? How many months remain on your current term? Nothing is forever. Forget the doctor's note. It's worthless.
Skip the manager, deal with the owner or mgmt company. They are on the lease with their contact info.
Once you know where you stand, STAY OFF THE PHONE. Put your request to move in writing to the owner/mgmt company. Send it priority mail with tracking.
Line up and secure your new place before notifying/leaving your old place. You need a reference to get in the new place.
Post back with your lease terms to get out.

I was able to get out of a condo lease by advertising and finding another qualified renter to take over renting in my place.

There's no way I can read any of it. Is it a joke or some far off land computer?
