I have a Bose CD player that I've had for years - and recently, it has decided to turn on by itself and play my cd inside. It happened this morning and day before yesterday morning. I was wondering if anyone else had ever experienced this. By the way, stranger than that, it has turned on approximately 5 minutes after I've said my prayers, both mornings.

I have an old Bose (that still works) and found that I had inadvertently turned on the alarm button.

I'd say you have a house guest that likes your taste in music.

I think you hit the "alarm" button on your remote.
My cat walks on my remote from time to time and turns on the alarm, the radio when I'm watching TV, or sometimes even off!!!
Then, the next day, the alarm comes on and if you had the volume turned up with your remote....wow!!!
I use mine as a sound bar in my bedroom...it's about 10 years old ( or more) and it still works fine....I like it better than the TV speaker!
Take your remote and hit the Alarm On/Off button while watching your Bose display. There should be nothing in the right hand field of the display if the Alarm is OFF.
This button on my remote is on the bottom row of buttons, second from the left.
You may never have set the alarm function, but sometime in it's life, the Bose had a time entered as an alarm....try this and let us know!!

Well, I figured it out, why my Bose started playing by itself. I had mistakenly at some point, turned on the alarm button - all is well now - and I will keep praying !!

First of all, it was very nice to hear someone say that they pray. I have never read or heard someone to be honest enough to say this publicly. I pray, religiously, pun intended, so thanks for mentioning it. Now regarding the Bose… The same exact thing is happening to me. In fact, it happened recently. Sometimes it turns off, and sometimes it turns on on its own. I read that you can do updates on the Bose through your computer, but haven't had the time to try to figure out how to do that yet. I used to use it as a sound bar for my TV, but because I had a lot of interference with multiple remotes for the TV, I only use it now when I want to play music. So, therefore, I keep it unplugged because of the glitches. With that being said, it's amazing that it has turned on a few times in a row five minutes after you start to pray. As a religious person myself, that something to think about. ![]()

Glad you figured out what happened. I have never had that issue with my Bose, but sometimes my Echo starts playing music for no reason that I can figure. Fortunately, it only does that when I am awake (not the middle of the night.) And, it turns off when I tell Alexa "off".

@sarahpanda Well, thank goodness that's resolved. We once had an oven that turned on by itself. Needless to say, we got that fixed right away.
@LindaLatte Our Echo acts very strangely after our grandkids leave. At least for a week or so. Who knows.
ETA: @sarahpanda Keep on praying.
