Stopped all Christmas gifting this year. Only had a few hold outs until this year as previously our family drew names including the children as most were not in any need. Put a price limit and we made a list by Thanksgiving so whoever drew our name could buy a wanted gift within that limit. This Christmas no stress or weird gifts and thankfully no disappointment.

If previous years gifts were all thoughtful and only this years gifts were bizarre, I think this was planned by your family. Too much of a coincidence that all your gifts were absurd!

Sounds like regifting has really caught on in your family.  The gift card must be one for sure.  There's some website where you can sell gift cards for a portion of their value.  Perhaps you should  investigate it or plan a road trip.  I'd send it back to the giver explaining that because the restaurant is not in your area, perhaps he can use it.

This was my first thought too as I was reading this thread--that this dear soul and her DH had received presents that were regifted from their family members.

The restaurant gift card is what especially made me think that, as the restaurant isn't even in their area. Smiley Sad
