Blue Grossbeak ^^^

Indigo Bunting vvv

@Winifred

Winifred,   I've had both of these beautiful blue colored birds at my feeders over the years.   They are hard to tell apart, but the beak on the Blue Grosebeak is bigger and the bird is bigger than the Bunting.   The colors are vivid and almost intense.   I hope they'll stop by this Spring and that I'll get to see them.   The Bunting likes to ground feed but I can never get close enough for a picture.

@possummink

Wow what beautiful birds!  Over the years I have seen the Indigo Bunting once and have never seen the Blue Grossbeak.

@Bird mama

I know exactly what you mean about almost forgetting Wed. during Lent.  Pizza sounds yummy!  Haven't had a pizza in many years but it is on my list of trying to see how I do.

@viva923

So glad to hear that someone else follows the Fod Map diet and that it works for you with Crohns.

@Winifred

How are you feeling?

Today it reached 62 here and we set a record!  Tonight it is raining and during the day today it is to be very windy with power outages.

We now have 2 cases of the Virus in the State.  Tried to buy hand sanitizer today and stores and also Amazon are sold out.  People are stocking up on paper products, cleaning products and surgical masks.

My MRI was rescheduled.  Probably was a good idea because I have a cough and a sinus infection and I would have not been able to be still for any length of time.

The blue birds are coming to the feeders daily.  Yesterday and today they checked out the bluebird houses.  Sure would be nice to see them making use of the houses .....fingers crossed.

Waving hi to all the birders!!!  Stay safe everyone!!!

Re: Birds Nest - Marchin' into Spring

Good Morning Luvs - woke up again so that is about the best I can say this morning. LOL. Still dragging a bit and I do not like it but will make the try for a good day. Thanks for asking - hoping things stay well for you.

Possum, those are both beautiful birds. I have never seen them - ever. Would love to but doubt it will happen. This part of California just does NOT have multiple kinds of birds - once many were here - but not in a long time. I find that so sad. While Blue Jays are very pretty, they are not the nicest birds that fly - even those are now extinct and they use to be everywhere. Same with the mocking birds - these two disappeared in very recent years. Give the black bird credit - they are still everywhere. There are a few smaller birds around - have NO clue what they are. Most look like sparrows yet some have beautiful bright red heads - they are not big birds at all.

Must work up some energy to go fill the feeders - I use to fill them and in an hour or two they were empty. Now it does allow me to sit for a good day before filling them up again.

Hope all have a great day.

Re: Birds Nest - Marchin' into Spring

@Winifred   How often do you have to take the written and eye test?  I had to recently, and now I don't have to do it again for four years, what a pain, but only eighteen questions are asked, on computer, of older people, and I took many practice tests online, free, so recognized all but one question, that was the one I missed, but if I had left my original answer, I would have gotten 100%, second guessed myself, never good because I am always wrong the second time, lol.  I made an appointment and waited over one month, the DMV is always booked.

Long before I actually drove, I felt as if I could, so that part for me, eons ago, was fine, just needed to know the rules.  I used to sit behind the wheel of my Mother's car, in the garage.  Saw a picture of me doing that, in my stash, peeking over the side of the wheel, lol.

Re: Birds Nest - Marchin' into Spring

@viva923   Short of the written and actual driving test with somebody from the secretary of state when I was 16, the only test I ever take when renewing my license is the vision test to make sure I'm not blind as a bat.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

Re: Birds Nest - Marchin' into Spring

Let me put it this way. There was a time when if you passed and had no serious accidents, you did NOT have to keep taking a test. Well of course, like most governmental agencies they find a way to make extra $$. Of course it is stated as safety reasons and to be honest some is. However I CAN ONLY GIVE YOU MY EXPERIENCE AS i DO NOT KNOW WHAT OR IF OTHER THINGS HAVE CHANGED.. When I was nearing 70 I get a letter from DMV stating I had to be retested every 5 years once I turned 70- not real happy about that I loved having an old license when I was in my early 30s and in reality had turned into an OLD wrinkled lady. LOL I have not had to be retested for driving - ONLY a written exam. And they literally cut it in half from what others had to take. Of course the price is more because I am doing it more. I think now a new license costs $37 and if you fail the driving test it will cost y an extra $7 to be retested.

I find some of this interesting as some time in the past I was told more accidents are NOT caused by we old fogies but rather middle aged people. How about that

Now listen to this, my friend Freda called me a few hours ago telling me she got  a letter today telling her she had to come down and get a new license. Oh no, I said, don't you just dread it? She said "Usually, but this time nothing to it." WHAT sez I? Her letter stated she was to go to DMV, pay the $37 (so at least it is still that price) and they will take a picture and hand her the new license - she does NOT have to take a written test or any test. That is the amazing state of mind in California. My new license is due this coming January, if I am still alive will tell you what happens. LOL

Good night to all - and by the way Freda is turning 90!!!
