I hope this is good luck (cause I really need some).

Doves have built a nest over my front door ledge.   They did it so fast I didn't even see them there until today.   Mom is sitting up there.  I don't mind it except if something happens and the eggs fall or the little chicks fall.

Someone told me it's a sign of rebirth and happiness.  Gosh I hope so.  I've been living with a lot of stress and worry for a long time.

I talk very softly to them so they don't get scared when I have to go in and out.   I do believe that animals sense trust when they are around humans.   Perhaps they trusted my doorway as a safe haven to start their little family.

Expect to be pooped on the head.  In my neck of the woods, that is considered good luck!

I love Doves.I feed many (sometimes 40 ) of them. They are a little slow in thinking. You are so lucky ,they only hang around here to eat all day.

So many yrs ago ( over 40 yrs) my DH brought me home 2 doves in a cage. I couldn't stand seeing them in the cage so I let them go free. I think  all the Doves I have here are decendants of the 2 I freed. At least I like to think that.

When it rains they line up along the top of my fence and spread out one wing at a time up to the sky in the rain. It looks like a beautiful balet to me.

I know many people will remove the nest to shoo them away, but I cannot do that.   It's nature at its finest and they chose my doorway.

They already are pooping Mz. iMac!   That's what made me look up to find them!!  I always wonder why they don't nest in a tree, but perhaps it's safer being hidden away from predators.

I don't know how long it takes to hatch, but it's warm here and I just hope they stay safe.

@Frosted Cake

Are they mourning doves?  The reason I ask is that they builds nest quickly but not well.  Mourning dove nests tend to fall apart easily so I don't want you to be upset if the nest is in shreds at one time or another.  I wish you a great bird watching experience with your doves :-)

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

I have a pair of mourning doves that nest each year in one of my fern hanging baskets.  Their nest is basically the middle of the fern with a few twigs and leaves thrown in.  They are used to me, but flutter out for the postman.  I love their coo, though they don't do it when nesting.  Hope yours raise their eggs with no problems.

Gosh, I don't know the difference.   The surface they are on has a lot of stones, and the nest looks messy and I have found a lot of twigs on the ground.  I pray the nest stays in tact.   I'd be horrified to find dead babies or the eggs on the sidewalk.

Wild animals flock to me. I've had ducks and ducklings in the yard, quails and their babies and cats.    I adore animals but hate to see them in danger or distress.

I had a purple finch make a nest on the wreath on my front door. We ended up with 5 babies and although it was fun to watch them, I had a terrible mess to clean up after they left the nest.

@goldensrbest,awwww,that is very sad.  I am sorry you had to see that............

I think it is against the law to do that.I am not sure so don't quote me.......lol  I know here in NJ if a nest is found  everything stops around it  untill all  babies are fledged . I am talking about big business , construction, highway renovations,everything.......... Maybe your son should open an entry way for mom to get  to her eggs.

btw.....goldens are best <3
