Hello all - back to work after a really lazy weekend.  It rained so much on Saturday, lawn mowing was out of the question on both days.  I'll cut the grass after work one day this week as it looks like rain again next Saturday.

It's cooled off enough for me to have the furnace running at night.  I get cold, even with blankets on. Also don't want my little birds chilled.  My Poppi is so old, I obsess over chills, drafts or anything that could take him out.

@Bird mama  I have been using a heated mattress pad for years.  It is nicer to have it on the bed instead of on top of the body.  I will look for the name of it and post it.

Re: Bird's Nest for September 2016

what a beauty:

Winifred,  It was really hot here today plus it rained off and on so I didn't get the feeders refilled.  Not taking any chances on lightning down here in Florida.   Been quite a few people struck this year already and several didn't make it.

It's nice that Davey's dad and Davey helped you out yesterday.  I don't know much about Davey's circumstances but wondered if his dad lived nearby and how great it would be if they could get together more often,  Let me know if I've got the wrong idea or stepped over the line.  I'm just glad that the guy is happy to have dad around and that it helps you.

I hope Miss Blackie is doing well and that the young kittens are kind of settling down as they grow up.    I miss having kittens around,  My trap, neuter and release thingy worked too well.  No kittens around for about 8 or 9 years now.  Knock on wood.   I'd rather go adopt an older black cat from a shelter, as they're the last to be adopted, if ever.

Take care and get rest.  The work will always be there, and keep cool.  It's supposed to be cooler here for a few days,  like near 90 instead of 95.  Yippee!!! Heart

Possum, that is an exact copy of Miss Blackie, aka Blubba Belly. LOL. She can sure get persnickety when she wants to - even with me. Little stinker at time. The other kitties I still need to find homes for. I have been so frustrated as Petco and several other cat rescue places have agreed to take them and then right between the eyes, no can do. I do not understand it as they are both beautiful, have ALL their shots AND are Chipped. Needless to say both have been "fixed". Makes no sense but cat rescues I am finding out are no where near the standards of doggie rescue. Still must try again as I simply cannot have THREE cats here. The other kitties have gotten quite bad about using their litter boxes - perhaps the little ones and simply the volume of traffic here has driven them nuts. But the end result is I have gone nuts with those two. They are beautiful and precious however.

Forgot to mention Possum that no, you are not out of line re Davey and his "Dad. Yes, his Dad lives only minutes away but has put himself into a cesspool for sure. Davey is so happy when Dad is around and I hope he does that more often. Good for Davey and me too as he helps without any yelling, screaming, etc that I get from Shannon. What can I say?

Took Ricky to his MD today - he has not been well. Took him last week to Urgent Care but they had a different staff than I am use to and quite frankly I hope these are not permanent. They did not help him at all. His MD says he simply has a cold but that little guy is really sick, will not eat and is gripey. Bless him - I feel bad as I did not get the feeders filled today - really meant to but with zipping here and there just did not get it done.

Tomorrow for sure or they will fly over my house and drop things on it for sure. LOL. HOpe one and all have a great day tomorrow - we are ONLY suppose to get into the 70s - hard to believe and tonight suppose to drop to 47, another hard to believe.

Sleep well everyone.

Re: Bird's Nest for September 2016

Going to sneak in quietly and say I did not get the feeders filled AGAIN. Shame on me.

The water line running down the street broke in front of my house - of course. It is slowly drizzling out and I called the water company early this a.m. They came out quickly but said it will probably take until perhaps as late as Thursday before it can get fixed - they have other priorities. They also must wait until ALL utilities, i.e. gas, sewer, electricity, phone, etc mark where they are before they can start digging to fix it.  It has let a lot of water out but I told them there would be big problems if my house sinks. LOl. They understood. It has let a lot more water out and some is coming into the yard - that is fine as it saves me on watering - not really as it has not come in much but is covering along almost all the front - started out this morning with perhaps 10 feet wide - my front yard has a 90 foot frontage so it has traveled quite a bit. Just praying it does not come too far in the yard as that is when trouble starts. My driveway is gravel and it is getting really wet - darn it.

Hope one and all had a great day.

Re: Bird's Nest for September 2016

Hi all. That rose colored bird is beautiful.  Well, all birds are beautiful to me.

The birds have started migrating.  The grosbeaks are gone as well as some of the others. My chicksdees and  nuthatches stay all year and the chickadees are so friendly and chatty.

Today was such a beautifull fall day.  Actually hot.  All week is to be nice but we need rain badly. Yesterday we went to the state fair and so enjoyed looking at everything. We really enjoy the performsnce of the draft horse hitches. There is also a hitch of shetland horses and can they ever go.  They really kick up the dirt.

Boy Freddie I sure hope they fix your water problem before it causes you problems. Water problems can be disasterous.

This week end we went to my class renion.  It was a hot day and so much fun.  We met at a local park in my home town, had snacks.  Then in the late afternoon we went on a 2 hour dinner  steam train ride.  The food was great and the train wandered through the countryside and followed the river that we used to swim in.  We had a good turn out.  We decided we need to meet every other year as so many have passed away.

Tomorrow we deliver meals on wheels.  One of our people passed away last week.  It seems when we loose one it is either to a nursing home or they die. Over time these people get to be friends we care about.

Well, I need to fly on and will check in soon I hope.
