Re: Bird's Nest for October 2022

MY youngest son was riding home from work on his motorcycle and hit a deer.Thank God he was wearing his helmet,boots and leather jacket.It was in the late evening,so it was dark and he was looking out for the deer as he had seen them every night..He has staples in his head (even with helmet) a broken left leg and a swollen hip and shoulder.I am so grateful,as it could have been worse. I believe his guardian angel was with him.

That is enough excitement for me for awhile.I am still a little shook up.

May be an image of food and text that says '60ctobre Ephéméride- Seasonal Calendar Bonjour'

Hi Birding Friends.  It's another lovely Autumn day here,  but we need some good soaking rains here and soon.   Some of my well established bushes,  Oak leaf hydrangea,  forsythia, etc. are showing signs of stress due to lack of rain and I can't water them,  much too big of an area. 🙏🌧🌨🌧🙏

@Bird mama

Bernie,  Jillian and family finally made it to my daughter's home last night, but not without one last 'drama' yesterday morning.   She was walking one of their dogs at a rest stop a bit north of Kansas City, MO, using her phone's camera to video some of the beautiful fields around them when she felt something on her foot.  She thought it was Tucker, the dog, stepping on her foot, but then saw him about 4 or so feet away from her.  She looked down in time to see a snake crawling away.  Apparently she stepped on it and it bit her.  Thank God it wasn't a venomous critter, just a Western Rat snake, I think she said.  She of course panicked, screaming, and Thomas got out of truck and carried her back to it and they called an EMT.   No damage done,  just a big scare.

It's been a trip and a half for them, in the truck with 2 dogs, 1 kitten, 2 young boys and them.  An alternator went out on Sunday,  lost cell phone service on Monday,  not sure if there was drama on Tuesday, and then the snake yesterday.

I took her favorite pizza over to my daughter's last night for supper.  It's from a small place up the road from me and is our family's favorite  pizza place.  My son, who has had pizza from many places in the world including Italy, says it's the best in the world.   I'm not sure about that, but it is awesome.   🍕😋🥰🎃👍

I am so sorry to hear about your son and the accident with the deer. We know all about those deer around this area. Our DD had a run in with one about 18 months ago coming home at night from work. The deer totaled her vehicle out. I am glad your son is ok.

Oh, my goodness, Hellie.  I sure understand your being a little shook up.  How scary!!   I've never heard of a motorcycle and deer accident.   Thank the Good Lord he was wearing all of his protective gear.

Wow,  such painful injuries too.   I'm glad he's ok, in spite of those injuries.  You are right, his Guardian Angle had to be with him.   Hoping he heals quickly and completely.   Try to relax and take good care of yourself.    🙏🙏💖

@possummink

OMG how much more could there be? A snake? Ufda. I'd have had a heart attack, venomous or not. Your poor grand daughter.  I hope things begin to settle down for you and your family now.

Oh, and I want to apologize again for sending the good baby wishes to @Epicurean  when it was you who I meant to send them to. Lets hope today is a good day for everyone now.

Oh no @hellie jo  it's that time of year when the male and female deer get frisky.  I am so glad that your son wears a helmet as there are many men out there who do not.

It is truly miraculous that your son survived the encounter and I will pray for a full and speedy recovery.

Jesus Mary and Joseph @possummink   all I had to read was 'rat snake' and I was done.  It's always better to be safe then sorry and I'm glad they called an EMT.  The entire family needs 24 hours of sleep after all of that travel.

@Leeny  Ufda is putting it mildly.  I know me and I grew up in the city and have zero experience with snakes.  I probably would have run into oncoming traffic in a panic Woman Very Happy
