Re: Bird's Nest for August 2016

@mousiegirl

I know exactly what you mean about the crying and feeling sad.  I have a picture of him smelling pansies that I had just potted at our former house hanging by my desk.

Re: Bird's Nest for August 2016

Since we are talking about vocal animals - did you know young squirrels make noise, not quite chattering, that sounds like a human baby?  Last weekend I had all of the windows open and I was upstairs at the computer.  There is a silver maple in the front yard.  I heard a sound like a baby whining.  I looked out and saw no humans.  I realized the sound was level with me (2nd floor) and looked straight out into the tree.  I saw the squirrel and said, hey, what's with all the crying?  It stopped, lol.

Now, I go out in the backyard and make the noise and the squirrels run towards me.  Jesus help me, I think I speak squirrel now.

@Bird mama  Speaking squirrel, LOL!  I think that a squirrel's sound is so plaintive.  At the other house, I awoke one morning to such cacaphony by squirrels.  I opened the slider, which was very close to a very old Oak tree, and there on the step was a headless squirrel, so I know the squirrels were mourning, at least in distress.

Beautiful Scottie!:

Never leave my heart (from Freebird 9-24-14):

Oh, Winifred,  I am so very sorry to read about Conrad.  I'm sitting here with tears running down my face as I type this.   I know how much you loved him and he loved you.   I guess this way was better for him but awful for you as it was sudden, and though this doesn't make you feel any better now, he did not linger on in pain.

 I hope you aren't upset that I posted another photo of 'him'.   I didn't want to make you feel any worse, as if that's possible.  You gave him a loving home and a good life, please find some comfort and peace in that knowledge.  Remember the good fun times with Conrad.  He's young and healthy now across the Rainbow Bridge, Heart

Until we meet again ♥:

Thank you Possum - I appreciate you posting another picture. Conrad was one of the sweetest - if not THE sweetest - dog I have ever shared my life with - an angel for sure. A funny aside is the cats - they KNOW!! All three climbed up on my bed last night. Only Miss Blackie ever had the audacity to remind Conrad SHE ran the household as she had the status of head critter. LOL.  And do not hesitate to post any Conrad type pictures as time progresses - seeing him only makes me smile.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Conrad.  They are with us for such a short time but the joy and love that they give us makes it well worth it.  At least Conrad did not suffer but I know he will be deeply missed.  Think of all the good times that you had with him and I hope that it will bring you some comfort.

@mousiegirl

So you've heard squirrel cry/whine too?  I'm accustomed to the adults chattering.  This is the first year I got a bunch of whiny babies in the yard. I have so many first year squirrels this year it's ridiculous.

I tested the 'song' this morning.  I went out there and mimicked the whining and sure enough 2 squirrels came running from the pines at the back of the yard, 1 came running from the walnut tree and there was another one running along the privacy fence.

I wonder if they will ever let me pet them?
