Re: Bird's Nest September 2021

@possummink  my first furbaby was a cat named Midnight.  She died October 1, 1981 and I remember it like it happened last week.  She had an ear infection or so the vet said and when I took her for a follow up he said she had to be put to sleep and then tried to walk out of the room with her.  I was 19 and blurted out 'and where in the hel* do you think you are going with my cat'?  He was trying to spare me so he said.  I said when she goes back to God it will be me handing her over.  My poor mother, I left the house with a living cat and came home with one that had crossed the bridge.  Was a shock all the way around - none of us saw that one coming either.

I don't think you're going nutty, Moose could be trying to let you know that he is okay.  Love doesn't stop just because they are behind the veil or in heaven. It's like a fiber optic thread that keeps us connected.

I remember when my niece brought me my youngest sparrow Presto on a Friday and I said sure I can raise her.  Then it hit me that night that I work full time and how was I gonna hand rear a 4 day old sparrow and keep a job.  I told my Ma in heaven, Ma I need some ideas because I really got myself in a pickle and then I went to bed.  The biggest concern for me was how I would keep Presto warm in the car until the sun rose high enough in the sky for me to move the car to the parking garage roof.

I was standing in my kitchen, back to the sink and I said out loud, how in the heck am I going to keep this little one from getting hypothermia.  They need such intense warmth at this stage when they are featherless.  As clear as a bell to the right of me my Ma said, you got a hot water bottle don't you.  It was so clear that I actually turned towards the kitchen table with empty chairs and said yes, yes I do, Ma you are a genius.  Then it hit me what happened and I called my sister, lol..

You know these bugs are getting obnoxious from all of the rain and humidity I think.  I think I posted the photo last month of that rather large spider that looked like a mini tarantula to me that popped up in my utility tub next to the washer.  Honestly caught another one earlier this week, again in the utility tub.

Saw a cricket in the furnace room on Thursday and it got away from me.  My sister said watch out it will wait until you try to sleep and then start singing.  Well Friday night, Francis decided to sleep in the office (first time in 2 months) and because he wasn't eating much that day I got nervous and decided to sleep on the hard floor in the room with him.

Lord - it's been years since I slept on a hard floor with a pet - like 25 years.  I wasn't sure I was gonna be able to get up yesterday morning.  I think the cricket knew Friday night I was losing it , never sang.

Last night when everything seemed normal it started singing.  I was able to catch it at the bottom of the basement stairs and release it in the backyard before I went to bed.

This morning I go to start a load of wash.  My basement floor is black tile and I swear I see something moving.  I thought wow, not another cricket.  Put the plastic peanute jug over it and then slide a thin piece of plastic under whatever was in there.  Would you believe another scary looking spider?  I released it out front by the Alberta spruce.  I try real hard not to kill things...my exception is the centipede.  I'm thinking of some all around general bug spray for the basement.  I don't want to put it outside and contribute to ecological problems and am hoping if these spider smell bug spray they won't come in.

@possummink

I can sure understand about missing your kitty and thinking you heard him.  I've got a five month old kitten that is attached to me much like you describe Moose was with you.  He can be a big pain at times since he has to be right in the center of whatever I'm doing at the moment, but he is so sweet and makes me laugh which I need now.  He would be in heaven if I could just carry him around with me all day.  I can't imagine being without him even though he hasn't been here long.

I lost a cat in November in much the same way as Moose too.  It was kidney failure, but because he went downhill so fast I honestly think there was something else going on too.  It was a shock because he was only ten years old and otherwise always healthy.  Like you, after the fact I kept thinking there must have been something I missed that could have prevented it, or at least prolonged his life.

I have always taken the loss of a pet hard.  I think it's even more emotional when we are alone and an animal especially close to us leaves.  I know I am much closer to all my pets since my husband died.  Having to make that awful decision alone and then living with the loss alone is much harder than when you have someone close to share feelings and memories with.

And honestly, the older I get and the more losses I experience--both human and animal--I just get tired of losing those close to me.  It hurts more even though I can rationalize it better now.

I'm sorry Moose's passing hurts so much.💔🐾❤️

It's amazing how loud one little cricket can be in the house in the middle of the night!  😆

@Bird mama   I use Adam's Flea and Tick spray.

Adam's Home Spray is good for spiders, and lots more bugs

Re: Bird's Nest September 2021

Just stopping by.  I looked up just as I opened my iPad and there was this huge cricket. I finally got it outside but not sure if he was still alive.   Guess we're all dealing with bugs.

im still I. A mess with this leg eruption.  Now I have to go to wound clinic tomorrow.  Messy and painful experience.  So far over 20 lbs been drained off.  Ever since hubby has been gone it is one thing after another.
