Re: Bird's Nest - September 2018

Freddie @Winifred

Back in the day, way back in the day Woman Wink the nuns at my grade school used to complain that I was disruptive in class.  I was the type of kid that if a priest came in to visit the classroom, I'd be the first one out of my desk, standing up to say Good Morning Father XXXX.  Never a hair out of place, socks pulled up, blouse tucked into uniform jumper.

My ma talked to the nuns and said look, you give her assignments in class and she completes them right away.  Can't you give her something else to do while you're waiting for the other kids to finish?  Catholic school didn't double promote or anything and I was beyond some of what I was learning at that time.  My Ma said, don't give her extra credit, just put her to work on something else.

Nuns wouldn't do it so my Ma took me to the family doctor.  He prescribed phenobarbitol (?).  It was a low dose already and I think my Ma split the pill in half.

Well, they didn't have to worry about me being a firecracker.  My socks were down around my ankle, blouse half hanging out of my jumper, didn't care what my pigtails looked like.  When the priest came in to visit everyone else got up and I say there.  Nun said to me, Father XXX is here.  I said, okay and just sat there Woman LOL

What my mother decided to do was really restrict any soda pop or candy.  She never told the nuns she took me off of the phenobarbitol.

When my youngest niece was in school, the nuns complained about her.  She wasn't hyper like me, she didn't like school, was forgetful about brining books home, doing assignments.  Sister took her to some MH specialist - guy or lady spends 20 minutes with this kid and says she's got ADD.  That's what they called it back then.  Later they called is ADHD.

My sister puts her on meds.  I get mad with sister because in my opnion she didn't try anything else first.  I buy niece pretty notepads and teach her to write stuff down, like what homework she needs to do and what books she needs to bring home for homework.  I work with niece on homework.  I tell her you are not playing until we get homework done - how long that takes depends on you.

What niece liked she did, what niece didn't like, it was like pulling teeth.

My sister took Amber off of the medicine and never told the nuns and there was no problems.

I'm not saying that the medicine isn't beneficial and I'm not saying the disorder is not real.  I'm saying try other things first.

@mousiegirl  What a beautiful cat.

@Bird mama  Yes, nice blue/grey color.  I don't like cats here because they kill birds, squirrels, and rabbits, very upsetting to be weeding and find a fresh kill, headless squirrel.  I don't know why it comes here, but guess has decided that since the dogs don't run free, it is safe, but there is so much surrounding land and we are fenced, unlike other properties, yet it comes here, lol.

I was watering the other morning, and it shot out from between the plants I was watering, made me yelp, thought it was a giant lizard, lol.

This is the grey cat I mentioned that hangs around on my property.  DH dug up a dead plant on a large steep slope a week ago, and the cat thought the hole was a great place to nap, lol.  I zoomed in, what a look on it's face, lol.DSCF7601.JPG

Mousie,   This beautiful cat looks like Tinker,  my son's cat,  who crossed the Rainbow Bridge earlier this year.   A Russian Blue.  Heart

@possummink  Yes, when I first saw it, I thought it might be, and if it were, it belonged to someone, but why does it come here if it has a home, I ask myself.  I find it sleeping in a slider chair in the morning at times.  I would expect it to come onto the deck and sleep in the cushioned chair, but maybe that is too close for comfort.

Mousie,  People dump all kinds of pets, cats and dogs.   We got Blizzard that way.   He was snow white with blue eyes.   Beautiful but no way to camouflage himself against  predators.   Same with a couple of Siamese cats and Persians.  Some people just don't care and should never be allowed to have pets.   My pets are family members.

Fred was dumped when my DIL rescued him.   He even had a cheap little blue collar on with no ID, brand etc.   She put up pictures and posters him but no one ever claimed him,  Boy did they lose a sweetheart of a furbaby.  He's so loving and lovable.  Heart

@possummink  Boy, don't I know it!  All of my pets except one were rescues, and the stories I heard while working in rescue were heartbreaking.  I wanted to keep all of my foster cats, but of course couldn't, but I kept plenty, lol.

@mousiegirl  I don't think people know what they have when they dump an animal.  To me, pure breed or Heinza 57 variety don't matter.  My sister's cat SilverBelle was a Russian Blue that had been dumped.

@Bird mama  Yes, in my rescue days, I had several Persians, seven of which I kept, one was unadoptable and at death's door due to the owner not wanting him, and a person I was working with rescuing cats took him, told me, and I took him,  one with three legs, and the rest is history, lol, let one go for adoption.  I grew up with Persians and many more garden variety cats.

Animals should never be given away, as people don't value anything that is free, and free puppies and kittens are used to feed large creepy crawlers, can't even say the name as it gives me the shivers at just the thought.  It is horrific what happens to animals in this world.
