IMO there is nothing wrong with letting someone know they are about to make a mistake IYO, it's the approach that people don't like. I think as long as you don't criticize with the aim to promote fear and shame, people may take it better no matter what kind of criticism it is.

I don't understand this post at all....sorry, @Group 5 minus 1. I don't understand the comment about growing up with it and learning to "take it at an early age"....is that a good thing? And what does arguing "with idiots" have to do with being critical? Are you talking about being critical of someone else, or of someone criticizing you?
I'm a sensitive person, but I don't mind someone giving me constructive criticism if it's not done with a mean spirit.
