From recall:

You don't get home for all holidays, so you create a military family for those occasions.

You get to be mom and dad for TDY's.

You get to see a lot of the country, and countries.

You get to meet a large array of people and personalities

Along with that one, you get to experience a lot of different foods you never had before.

It is, what you make it.

I could not have said it better!   I was a military wife for 26 years.  I would not trade that time for anything.  Yes, we missed our families but now we have "families" all over the world.  I think my sons now appreciate having seen different parts of the world and meeting so people.  They must not have minded since they both joined the military!  There were hardships but I also cannot even imagine staying in my hometown all my life. I loved getting out and meeting people and seeing new things.

Nice to read such positive responses.

I always thought I'd be a military wife, as I grew up near a military installation, but I married a civilian.  I knew many militaary wives/families and loved them all.

Thank you, and all military wives, for your service.

Some of the greatest people in the world are military wives!  They all need our thanks for their service as much as their spouses!

Great answers!  The seperations were the worst for me.  I got over being sentimental about holidays and am still not to this day.  All the moves took a toll on my body and the reason we did our own is because we heard so many horror stories about loss & damage from our military friends.  Thanks to all who served our country Heart

One of the dumbest things I did was introduce 2 wives both from Germany.  One was from East & one was from West.  They did not have that much in common but I had never been out of Michigan and didn't understand their differences.

I'm sure that wasn't always the case but to me it was just like introducing 2 wives from the midwest from here in America.

Nice to read these positive stories from Military Wives. I met many from around the United States, and other countries. Our city is close to what used to be SAC Headquarters(might still be, not sure) and running my Adult Hockey League for over half a century, I met Air Force men and woman quite often.

Right now there is 1 difference than decades ago, I meet men that are now "Military Husbands". From those I have spoken with, they too seem to mention more positives than negatives. Me personally?
