@viva923 oh no
Did they have the courtesy to tell you before you went to the hotel or did they wait until the last minute. I am so sorry they did you like this today.

hey all
Birdamama, i was NOT TOLD ANYTHING till after i had my antibiotics drip, all IV;s in my arm, waited till 1230pm before i was told sorry, doctor is to busy he can't help you today.my surg was scheduled for 11am today.
i was not the only one ,one other lady was kicked to curb too today with same doctor her surg was cancelled. the doctor scheduler (Christine) for surgery was shocked to hear of this set back and DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS SET BACK FOR US. she said she was going to get her eye/ears to the ground to find out what happened and see if things will happen on thursday. she said she would call me with any update between now and wednesday. so i wait to see /hear if surg will be on thursday . so I wait and see, my daughter in law said i should contact a lawyer to see if I have live with these dead batteries in my back, and see if they could help me get this surgery done. i don't want to do that until it is absolutely necessary. i like my doctor am just so gosh darn tired of being kicked to curb always something more important, i feel like i am not important but $$$ coming into the office to pay the staff. believe me i was causing a ruckus today in the hospital when they were telling i would have to wait again. how they thought i would just say, OK, another day, oh well. DUH they don't know me. if someone says it will happen and all of sudden sorry you are not as important as i told you once were.
well enough of the ruckus , later guys.

Oh man, Viva, that sux! I thought they had informed you before you went through all that.
I guess I can understand that sometimes the doctor gets tied up with a previous surgery that gets complicated and takes more time than they had thought. And now, with the hospitals so busy, scheduling is even worse. But it still would tick me off royally.
And I can sure understand your feelings of trepidation about the whole thing getting done properly with all this happening. But, try to get as much information in advance about the certainty of getting in on Thursday. I think it helps your case that the scheduler was shocked about it too. Since this happened to you once, you should be first in line for your surgery next time!
I'll keep my positive thoughts going for you until then...❤️

@viva923 Is this procedure happening at a hospital, surgical clinic or doctor's office? I can't say that I've had all that many procedures in my 59 years however I've been the transporter/driver/caregiver for people who've had umpteen surgeries. I have never, not once heard of a doctor saying nope not today when I was on a gurney waiting to be rolled in.
I don't know that a lawyer would be able to do something significant for you at this time. I say this because I don't want you to get taken for legal advice. During this pandemic they will be able to blame delays, problems etc on short staff because of the coronavirus.
I would have lost my sh*t too and it's better to express yourself than keep it in, your BP cannot afford to have you stifle the stress over this.

hey guys
it is a humid wet day, drippy from heat, dampness of the air today.
christine called (she is doctor scheduler of surg's for doctor office). she got to bottom of everything, guess the surgery OR"s were mayhem yesterday 2 procedures went south at same time, they had doctors coming in to try and correct the mess that was going on. naturally my doctor was involved in one of the cases.
just got off phone with hospital, went thru all the junk of meds i take, meds i can't take, what to take in morn, what not to take and so on and so on and so on stuff. spent a good half hour on phone this time. sure hope this is a go on thursday.
did get my walk in, changed sheets today and got living room cleaned, tomorrow will do dining room/bedroom as best as I can, can't lift the heavy stuff will let that go till dh comes home from work
not to much else, later guys.

Well, as infuriating as the whole thing was/is, emergencies do happen. I try to think when something like that happens to me that if I were the one in an emergency situation, I'd want my doctor available ASAP. But it's hard to think like that when you drove all that way, stayed overnight, and in the end you're still going to be in pain for another few days.
I hope they stay in better contact with you before this next scheduled surgery, though.

@viva923 This doesn't bode well for that hospital, but am hoping all goes well for you on Thursday. Will there still be batteries in the permanent implant? If so, what will be done to insure they don't die, and if they do, how will they be replaced?

@viva923 I suspected your doctor was involved in some medical case that went sideways. With total understanding of how upsetting the whole day was for you and while not minimizing your feelings.... maybe it was a blessing in disguise you didn't have the procedure yesterday. My Ma always said things worked out for a reason and I am hoping that Thursday goes infinitely better for you and your doctor can be completely focused on YOU not the other patient for whom things went sideways ![]()
