I treated myself to this Little Giant stepstool with stability bar. I figured I might as well order it while it was on sale with reduced shipping and handling. (V35736)
Is $139 expensive for a stepstool? Probably. I had 2 ladders in front of the house on Memorial Day and was up and down the Little Giant like a cat and didn't fall down. I went a couple of rungs up the traditional stepladder (lighweight aluminum) and it wobbled. I jumped off of it and broke my heel.
I'll pay the money for stability moving forward.

I think that's about the going rate for a decent stepstool now, especially with the stabilizer bar. I've checked out large stools/small ladders lately and they are expensive. At least they seem expensive to me. But I guess they've just increased in price like everything else has lately.💸
I'd rather spend the money on something like that and stay functional than be spending my money and time at the doctor's office from a tumble, and be in pain for weeks on top of it.
Good investment. 👍

@Bird mama I ordered this, it arrived, I was afraid of it, so returned and bought the two step.

Lucky for me @mousiegirl most of what I need to reach isn't that much taller than I am, lol. Just because I bought the 3 stair don't mean I'm gonna stand on the uppermost step....at least not right away.
A couple of weeks ago the smoke detector on the ceiling just outside of the kitchen started beeping. My sister works full time and she's taken time and had to make it up to accommodate doctor appointments. The woman doesn't complain. There was no way in heck that I was going to call her midmorning on a work day to address the beeping smoke detector. I took two stiff accent pillows from the sofa, piled them one on the other on the seat of the walker and knelt on them. My height allowed me to reach up and get the detector off of the mounting bracket.
I was praying to St Joseph the entire time and swore if he kept me from falling down that I would buy something safer for this type of thing. When I make a promise to anyone in heaven I don't back out.
