@Snicks1 He basically said:  flex and rotate the foot and walk in the boot.  He said that I had options now and that I could pace myself - nothing like doing mall shopping or grocery shopping or stuff like lawn mowing, lol.

When I asked him about PT a few weeks ago he said that he wasn't sure that he was going to prescribe PT - he wants me to work at my pace.

I am not in a hurry to overwork my foot.  I adjusted the straps on the air cast to allow some range of motion.  Once I am comfortable with that setting I will release the straps to allow a bit more range of motion.  I feel like I am learning to walk all over again.  I am not freestyling yet - I walk slowly behind the walker.

@viva923   I am so happy to read that your conversation with the nurse went well.  Knowing what to expect makes a difference.

@Bird mama   When I had my hip replacement, at a younger age than usual, a result of the childhood injury that had me on crutches for a year, my surgeon did not prescribe going to PT, but gave me exercises to do in bed, yipeee, was so happy about that.  I had to turn my ankle and other moves, all from bed.

A little weight at a time, as I had to do as a child once it was time for me to begin to walk again, a pound a day or so, then two, etc. It was scary after a year of not stepping on that foot.

Another nice, cooler day on tap, so nice in the middle of a hot, humid summer. I got the lawn mowed yesterday and was it ever in need of it. Looks so nice now. But, as I was riding along on my mower way in the back, underneath the limbs of the neighbor's trees, I ran into a very large spider web hanging down, covered my head and face, lol. Well, I'll leave it to you to picture my reaction, ha ha. I wasn't expecting that, for sure.
Today, after a walk for Luther, I'm relaxing until this afternoon when I have an appt about an hour away. Right now I'm trying to think if I need anything else while I'm over there. I used to love going there for shopping, having lunch or dinner, entertainment, etc., but these days I go when I have to, get done what I need to, and head back home. I'm becoming more of a hermit all the time, lol.
Have a good one!
