@Bird mamathank you very much for posting the website for me.   I read it thoroughly and learned a lot about granite that I never knew.  Matter of fact I printed it out. 

 

@mousiegirl  I too use mats for everything that I do on my granite counter tops but I often when preparing lay the package of meat such as chicken on the counter top and worry that there may be bacteria on the bottom of the package or juices get on the counter top when I open it to prepare.  I feel better with disinfecting the counter tops every night after dinner.  My husband calls me a cleaning fanatic....lol.   Thanks mousie.
