Re: August 2015 - Bird's Nest

@Winifred

Freddie, I'm glad that Church was good yesterday and that you enjoyed lunch with your friend.  It's hard finding a good Church, especially when you hit a couple that develop drama.  I hope your current Church not only survives, but thrives :-)

The bird of the day is the Australasian Gannet

I know they dive for food and are considered the best fishers of all sea birds.  This one is coming in hot - look at that perfect form, like an arrow.

Here's one for your daughter - a cloud formation that looks like a goat :-)

Hi Birdiing Friends,   A quick flyby to say hi and hope your Monday was good and that Tuesday will be even better.

I posted the above 3 photos of Trude, a burrowing owl, who loves to bathe.   He does it a bit different than most birds, just floating and swimming around and even sitting under the spray.   Thought he was cute and posted him on the Summer thread too.

Mousie,  I have lots of cloud photos  Amazing and I can understand your daughter's fascination with them.   I loved laying on my back in the horse pasture when I was a kid and watching the big puffy ones float by and try to figure out what animal they looked like or person.   Still do it at times, only not on the ground.  Too many ants and skeeters here in Florida.

Bernie,  That's some serious flooding you all had.   I watched the news this evening and there's even more widespread flooding, though most of the heavy rains have moved on and it's supposed to get back to 'normal'.   We had 4.5 inches of rain in 12 hours and some places had almost 7inches.  Florida is so flat and low lying, that there're not many places for runoff to go.  Buildings downtown don't have underground garages like at home. No basements here either.

Winifred,   I am hoping that your Church gets more people and stays viable for you.  It's been a pain for us at times when the Bishop or Archbishop decides to move our priests around.   That happened right before I came down to Florida this time.   We get good pastors who are good at preaching and interacting, you get to know them and they know you and boom!!! the Archbishop will probably move them to some rural parish 50 miles away.  I don't understand the logic behind that, but then there's a lot I don't 'get', I guess.    Keep cool and rested.
