Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

I actually thought if I leaned forward and looked that driver in the eye he would see that sweet old lady there. Didn't make him any difference.  I would have felt embarrassed to be calling a Grandmother a dumb a--    Lol.     Bernie, hope the job settles down.  I went through 9 Vice Chancellors when I worked and each time was a rough patch for a while.

Freddie, we until the day we traded that SUV in never got tv to work.   It had worked when we bought it.  That was the reason Tessa agreed to ride with us that night. I should have told her to fix it. She probably could have.  We seldom had use for it so didn't work on it.    That vehicle is long gone

tomorrow is my little procedure at the hospital.   Wednesday I pick up my hearing aids.  I'm getting my outside patched together

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Hey gang. Hope everyone's OK this fine evening. I was in the mood for catfish for lunch so we headed to our favorite place and were not disappointed and tomorrow we shall have catfish sandwiches since they always serve so much. Sorry to post this Freddie, but we loves our catfishSmiley Wink  I hope the fires are no where near to you though it's sad to know they're devastating others.

spix, your O'Hare outings are most interesting. When you said you'd found it and you should have used the bread crumbs did you mean you'd found the back fence thread? If so, I was going to mention that when a new thread is started I just add it to my favorite list and then I don't have to search all over creation on these humongous boards for it. I had to do that a time or two and decided on the favorites list as a solution.

house cat, glad you're there as a care taker for your parents; I know from experience what a tough job it is, but am thankful I was able to care for my mom.

welcome to the back fence; hope you'll come often as we always enjoy meeting new folks.

Jim often suggests we have 'fend for ourselves night' and that's usually fine with me, but I love it when he asks if I'd like fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy or beans and cornbread and of course I always give a hearty 'YES'!

Thanks, spix and yes it certainly is great to be able to see well again. I can see at a distance better than I have been able to in years and my close vision is better, but not as good as my distance, but hopefully when my second surgery is done next week that will improve as well. Right now I still need my glasses to read and view my computer, but watching TV is great sans glasses.  I can't get used to taking them off and on, but again after this second surgery I'll get them checked and get new glasses and maybe I won't have to have any. Boy, wouldn't that be nice?

Epi, thanks, so much for the recipe. Between sharing with friends and us and Jim baked a peach pie we only have two peaches left, but the truck comes again Monday and he plans to buy another box and then I plan to make the peach crumble. Oh, my these peaches are so good and sweet and juicy.

Betty, do you have the results for your carotid scan yet? And how are the hearing aid's working out? Hope you are able to comfortably adjust to the increased noise.  Jim says running water from a faucet sounds like a waterfall.
Some people are just crass and have no class and had just as soon insult a grandmother as a toddler. I don't know what is going on in this world, but a lot of it just 'ain't good' at all!

Bernie, how's the job situation going? Hope things are less stressful for you.

Happy Friday all! Sue

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Morning all, just finished the paper/crossword, & sitting here planning my day, sheets in the washer will hang out as the weather is perfect for it, don't do it as much as I used to tho, then the rest of the laundry, maybe some yard work, got 2 mum plants at Aldi's, they're looking good so a little color for Fall.

Supper is still a mystery, no DD tonite so I'll wing it

Do need gas but think I'll wait till Monday, maybe the price will drop a bit, we've had horrendous increases since a refinery meltdown or whatever, just when oil prices have dropped we escalate, can't win.

SUE   O'Hare is such fun, best volunteer "job" I've ever had, meet some interesting people & the Wounded Warrior meet/greets are heartwarming, tears are shed but after I leave them.  It can be an intimidating place so if I can make it easier for some it warms my heart.  And I love fried catfish, my neighbor makes it & I get an invite, lucky me

Hope you all have a wonderful day

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Hello all - so far, the weather has been beautiful around here.  It was mostly sunny, not humid and maybe upper 70's yesterday.  I got my lawn and yard work done.  It's sunny today and will be a little warmer, not much.  I'm going to lunch with my middle sister early this afternoon.

I've been watching the street reconstruction activities on my block and wonder if the company will get all of it done by Back To School day.  It's funny - they ripped up and poured new road on one side of the street and gave it almost 3 weeks before doing the other side.  I began to wonder if they ran out of money.  Now they are breaking their neck to do chunks of the street (6 houses at a time) and the street in front of my house hasn't been touched.

I knew my immediate area was last on the list and I hope they don't do a sloppy job.  I mentioned back to school time because my street is a school route for school busses.

I guess time will tell.

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

It was a lovely day today.  I had my leak surgery Friday.  I never have gotten the carotid test. I've called opthomologist and they say it was ok or lab would have called. I will keep bugging them until I get it. That EKG was fine.  Surgery was shor. Prep and recovery long.  Had a little tussle in OR when I discovered they cuffed my left arm.  that is my mastectomy side and lymph nodes were removed. It's a no no and my chart shows it. The anathesologist said its ok mamm for such a short time i have irregular heArt beat that I'm sure we're jumping off the wall. The nurse sAid I turned it off when she said that and patted my arm.  The next thing was I woke up and the cuff had been placed on Lower right arm. They had put the iv in the crook of my right arm so that is why they put the cuff on left. When I got back to admitting room they removed the bag and moved the cuff up. I was fine but a bit tender under my arm the next day. Everything else went smoothly and I am looking forward to no making path to bathroom

the hearing aids will be fitted Tuesday. Hope I can adjust. Bevs husband loves his. I was really impressed with this Costco guy.

I love catfish too. Lots of times we can get almond crusted at our local favorite diner

Hi to everyone

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Betty, I'm sorry that you were stressed prior to having surgery on Friday.  Honestly, if these medical people would slow down long enough to TALK to the patient, the misunderstandings and anxiety could be avoided.  I always say to mine, you may know medicine, but I know me - I've been living in me long enough (lol).  And the 'if we don't call you then nothing is wrong' line from doctor's offices.  I like to have copies of everything, good or bad.

How are you feeling two days later?  Are you noticing any improvement?

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Afternoon, Yock so sorry about your ordeal, but it sounds like all will be well & a speedy recovery is in the offing, hang in ther girl!

BirdMama I know what you mean re:doctors, years ago with my first, I told the peditrician "you might know babies but you don't know MY baby" needless to say I found a different doctor & kept him for all 4, he even made house calls & once came home from vacation cause my boys were getting worse, he was a gem.

Today has been lazy, now going out to the deck with Sadie & my kindle, manana (sp?) sounds good right now, retired does have some perks!

Take Care All
