Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Hi Epi - always good to see you!!! And of course that goes to one and all.

Have been busy trying to stay cool -lost cause.

Saturday went to Bryant Street Baptist Church for their monthly luncheon =
ALWAYS a lot of fun and great food.

Yesterday to church and 4 others were there with me - ALL former members of the church that our Pastor preached at for 20 plus years. He was delighted to see them and it was mutual. We old women then bundled up in ONE car and drove down into the 118 degree heat. We did eat right after church in Beaumont so we did not have to make but the one stop for the music program in Palm Desert. Jacci Davis was the performer - have seen her before - and she is outstanding She sings with a great background musical trio - cello, guitar and piano and those three gentlemen can also sing.

Got home about four and got a request for pizza - Geesh.

Am still tired - got Davey to school, ran around trying to find a bluetooth for my el cheapo phone and so far no luck.

Another hot day but not as bad as yesterday - well that is what they say but am not real sure about that.

Hope all are doing well. Gotta run.

@Winifred

Freddie, is this Davey's first or second week at the new school?  Is he doing okay and adjusting to the new people.  I hated high school and feel for kids that have to go through it (lol).

Hope that is a good sign for Davey.  Foggy here this morning. School delays  Merle managed to injure his calf muscle. He kicked his trailer hitch to engage.  Ouch. We are icing it.   Don't suppose I'll be able to get him to take a day off

Betty - when is Merle going to learn that things like hitches and anything made of heavy metal ALWAYS win when we try to fight with 'em (wink).  I hope his leg will be okay.

[ Edited ]

He said he's done that hundreds of times.  His old truck beeped when the two were aligned but this one he has to crawl out of the cab, back in the cab and etc.  He was doing pretty well when he got home.  We went to the grocery store together. I asked him to wait in the car. Just had a few things. Nope.  I had to take the elevator to the ladies room and said most of the stuff I have to pick up Was Paper products and bread and toothpaste.  I'm gonna get some chocolate chip cookies which are way on the other side so I'll get them. Meet me at bread.  Came down the elevator, went to bread. No Merle.   Walked along and looked diwn every aisle.  He's short and hard to see.   Where do I find him at the cookies way across the store   Then we had to come clear back to get the rest of my stuff.  Went to checkout and I was trying to see if they had given me my free cereal.  The clerk came up and looked and said I'll put one in for you. Before she reached her station he had started checking out again.  She got it in tho. He hates coupons says they are just to make you buy stuff you don't need. Well we needed toilet paper. I had digitally loaded coupons in my Kroger card and thought I wouldn't hear all that griping cause he wouldn't see it. Didn't work out that way,  but we got out of there ok. Pulled out of parking lot and some guy decided to give us the fingerr. Guess he thought we turned in front of him.   Then the crazy driver pulled up and slowed down so he could call us a dumb a-- and give us the finger again.  Merle's leg was really hurting when we got home.  I told him to use ice pack on it. He gets the heating pad. Told him 20 minutes and he used 30 minutes.  But he looked good this morning.   What a Guy.

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Just stopped by to say hello...hello!

Bird, how's the reorganization on the job turning out?  Having worked all my life, I feel for you...it stinks when you have to work with a crappy manager.

I hope everyone else is doing well (including Merle lol).

We had big rain, thunder, and lightening on and off all last nite, and we're getting it again since about 4:30...power went out for a few minutes once already...we need the rain.

I hope we don't have another power outage because I just put shephard's pie in the oven lol!

Have a great evening y'all.

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Hi McDuff - glad 5o see you here.

Bernie, hang in there - things will work out - they usually do. I can say that easily now since I am retired. LOL.

Betty, you tell Merle to get his act together - LOL. He is a tad stubborn, say what???? But having met him, I can also say he is a super nice guy. By the way, did you two ever figure out how to turn the TV onin your big  SUV or is it actually a truck - not sure which to use. Tessa still mentions that. LOL.

Am sooooo tired - again. Went to the laundromat earlier to wash mattress covers and MY sheets and pillowcases.  Also 2 quilts as they get some dirty - especially mine - as I have a lot of critters who shed my bad and shed THEIR fur. Drives me crazy.

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Betty, I don't know what's wrong with drivers today.  I come across some hot heads myself.  Yesterday, when I was driving to work I was stopped at a light at the corner where I knew I was turning right.  Mind you the street I was on and the street I was turning right on are large streets - 50 to 60 MPH.   So I see a frailer looking senior man who had some mobility issues waiting on the corner and he was looking to cross the busy street I was about to turn onto.

I have this big SUV/truck looking thing behind me.  When the light turned green, the little man was also giving the go ahead to cross the street.  So I never even inched up in the intersection.  I don't believe in stressing out pedestrians.  I also wasn't going to hurry up and turn until he made it across at least 3/4 of the way.  Heck, he could stumble or something.

The lady behind me was crawling up my rear end because I wasn't going fast enough.  I said to the Lord - Jesus, don't let her make me get out of this car (lol).

Freddie - I think it stinks that you have to shlep your laundry to a laundromat because of the drought issues in CA.
