Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Thank you for the birthday greetings and cake and ice cream - yummy.

I'm clumsy too and would probably drop my hearing aid and step on it before I realized I wasn't hearing clearly.

That is why my middle name is not Grace, lol.

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Lilac Tree, hi there and please hang out with us. We are always hungry so if and when you have food available, bring it by also - guarantee you it will be eaten up in a hurry. Speaking of food, am bring my blueberry bagels with some cream cheese of course. Also have coffee and also come ice tea for those who prefer that.

Well, Bernie - back to the old grind for you now - right?

Going to be a nasty hot day - save electricity day for me. Groan. Wish it would have been yesterday as I could have survived it but today it will be really tough. Hey, need to always remember others have it tougher in some places of the world.

Got to get a move on - hope all have a great day.

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Thanks for the snacks Freddie.

Yea, back to the grind.  Most of the time, I don't mind working here.  I'm supporting a particular project where one of the people is supposed to provide me with critical information for me to get my part done.  I've been asking for this information since June.  I've put it in writing, met twice and for some reason, this twit can't comprehend what I need.

I was in a workgroup meeting the other day about this subject and was really firm about my lack of confidence in the information this person is giving me.  I caught this person in a lie (or maybe she is that dumb?) - she's a manager level, I am not.  When another manager who works with her asked what we can do I said, I've put it in writing, met twice and am getting nowhere.  I'm at a loss - English is our first language and I am speaking it and still can't seem to make myself understood.

Well, today the twit's director called my manager and asked her to listen to the conference call recording.  My new manager and my director said they didn't hear anything unprofessional.

They both said they trust me and have confidence in me.  I told them that I would really try to temper my temper with the twit.

I've been at this nearly 35 years.  I've been in this job for nearly 10.  I think I'm going to check the job postings to see if anything else in the company might interest me.  I think I'm getting burned out doing what I am doing.

I am typing this without my glasses and can see it so plain. On the way home I kept reading all the sign post's jis cuzI could Smiley Happy Never knew speed limit 70 could make me smile Smiley HappySmiley Happy

Well, Bernie, sorry things are not going well for you at work; hope things will be resolved and you don't have to make a change.......unless you really want to that is.

Is anyone watching America's Got Talent, besides me? I have watched it from it's beginning and never tire of it. The Professional Regurgitator is absolutely incredible as well as Oz Pearlman. There are many talentented people, but the two I mentioned really stand out and they both were voted through to the semi finals.

Finally got an appt. to see the Rheumatologist and look forward to getting some help with my problem.

So sorry I can't remember our newest visitor, but welcome and hope you'll be a regular here at the Back Fence.

Happy Hump Day all! Sue

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Good morning everyone.

@Bird mama

I hear ya about being burned out...I could be fully retired (can I be that old LOL?), but I have a pretty good part-time position and a very strong work ethic and feel/think I should keep working while I'm able to make the money (rainy day) and to keep the socialization/computer skills.

But...I. Am. Totally. Burned. Out!  I have the shortest fuse ever, cannot abide twits and dumba$$e$, and am sick to death of paperwork!

And, I have to say, while on one hand it's nice you get a day off on your birthday, on the other hand it stinks that you had to put in 15 FIFTEEN YEARS to get it!!  Do you get another day off after 30 years?

Handsome and I are going to the beach this weekend YAY!!  I plan on doing absolutely nothing!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Afternoon all, we're still in Autumn weather, love it, but predicting hot/humid by the week-end, been lovin no a/c.

Queen I call cataract surgery the miracle worker, isn't it great (almost as my windows & stove didn't look so good afterwards  lol) to be able to see so much better.  My doc told me that now I'd even dress better, smarty!

Bernie hope your co-workers will finally be able to understand what you're saying, frustrating to say the least with your background & experience you shouldn't have to put up with what's going on, I wish you well with whatever you decide.

Not much going on today, did a bargain run, think burgers on the grill for supper, ordered Chinese last nite as DD loves it & I didn't feel like cooking so it worked out.  Tomorrow is Jazz Fest at O'Hare so I'll be there doing my thing so no doubt leftovers will be on the menu.

Wishing all a great evening, enjoy!

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

Hang in there Bernie.

Well gosh darn yesterday we got up to 103 and today we will be hotter - today also brings with it a heat advisory from noon until about 4 or so in the afternoon. They are predicting 105 to 106. Enough is enough - and the drought makes that even worse. The ground - much of what use to be beautiful grass is now just plain dirt and it is HOT and bounces the heat up. If El Nino is coming - and some experts say it is - I sure wish it would hurry up. Been thru several days of saving electricity but yesterday I did not keep the AC off all the time between 2 and 6. . There are no fines when you do that, it simply means your rates jump sky high to the NORMAL rates. Isn't that a thrilling thought?  Am floored to see they did not call a "Save" day today as they usually hit you on the hottest days. And since we have no school buses there is nothing like going over to the high school early so you can find a somewhat decent parking place and sit for 30 to 40 minutes in that scathing sun. It is horrible. Some keep their car ACs running forever - I cannot do that - I open the windows, put the sun shield up in front of me when parked to keep the direct sun off of me and so far have made it. Course I do turn the AC on - depending on the heat of course - about 10 minutes before I expect Davey to show up. It is a nightmare for many reasons but the biggest reason is the unhappy parent/whomever, who has to be the personal school bus for their kids. They show their displeasure in super rude behavior behind the wheel of their vehicle. I understand their unhappiness - I am not happy either - but do NOT understand being rude - we are all in the same boat. The kids are not the problem, the adults are. By the way while I am waiting I work on my crossword puzzle in the daily paper - love those things. By the time Davey gets there even with the AC going for a few minutes I am one big puddle of water - sweat like a stuck pig. LOL.

Hope to get the bird feeders filled - was going to water my back yard??? last evening but plumb forgot it. Cannot do it in the middle of the day. Sure wish we could get some rain. Dream on I guess.

Ice tea time and ice cream time today - guess I need to go and get some more ice cream. Days like this it sure gets gobbled up quickly - it sure tastes good. While I do not care for McDonalds, I LOVE their 99 cent cones. That ice cream is just delicious. Went there yesterday and they said they were doing a non stop business on cones and sodas.

Almost have to push Conrad outside a few times daily - he does NOT like this heat. The kitties have it made, they do not have to go out when it is hot, cooler days I can put them out in their "condo" but not in this heat - they would not survive.

Hope all have a good day.

Re: August 2015 - Back Fence

@Bird mama@MacDUFF

Can I say that I agree with you both?

@MacDUFF  when you say one evidence of your "burn-out" is a short fuse, that explains to me why I felt irritated with people all of the time last year at school.  I kept asking myself why I felt this way... I did not understand.

My situation had many of the same hall-marks as birdmama's... the constant plague of being surrounded by incompetence just didn't make sense.  I hate to say "how can people be so short-sighted?"  etc, too many positions put into place for political reasons instead of job-worthiness/productivity.

At the same time there WERE parts of the job that I adored... which might have been a reason to "hang in there" and keep going.

Just sayin'... from my vantage point, this type of disfunction in entities (both corporate and other -- DH banking situation had same) is rampant.

Hang in there?  Use your time off for you if you can "shake it off" if there is any such thing.Heart
