Try Extra Strength Tylenol. Ibupofen raises my blood pressure so I can't take that. My doctor said the Tylenol, every 5 or 6 hours would help but I would have "get ahead of the pain". Meaning don't wait for the pain to get bad, at the first twinge take the Tylenol and then take it every 5 or 6 hours whether it hurts or not. Honestly, I didn't think Tylenol would do much but he was so right. For me, the key is to get ahead of the pain. If I wait until I am hurting, it doesn't do much. I had one knee replaced a year ago, I have OA in the other knee but I'm putting off a the knee replacement for a couple of years.

I'm in my 60's. My feet give me a lot of problems. I have found a fantastic massage guy and a chiropractor to help keep me out of the doctors office because I'm (just me) not interested in shots/pills and generally PT doesn't last long term. Massage man works on my feet and it's like I died and went to heaven. Yes, I felt a little weird at first asking him, but not anymore.
I'm not talking about one of those TV advertised massage places. Go online and find medical massage people in your area.
That's my 2 cents

I have very bad RA in my feet and have found that for some reason Gold Toe 100% cotton socks give my feet relief, plus they feel supportive by hugging my feet. I know this sounds weird but it works for me.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for posting suggestions. I really appreciate it. Seems this is very common. I’m beginning to have a whole new sense of empathy for folks with arthritis. My heart goes out to people who deal with this daily!

I have arthritis in my feet and hands and find arnica gel helps with pain and swelling. I stay away from any pounding type exercise like walking on the street or jumping. I'm careful how I use my hands and how much I use them. Also, stay away from night shade veggies, they cause inflammation. I also take the spice tumeric daily and that seems to help with the inflammation too. Stay away from high heels and wear cushioned comfy shoes. Oh, I also find wearing support stockings from Tommy Copper helps with pain in my feet too.

You need to be evaluated by a rheumatologist who is a specialist in arthritic diseases. They can prescribe NSAID medications which are stromger and more effective than what you can buy over the counter. He/she can make recommendations on what you can do to feel better.

I take two Aleve at first sign and then one every 12 hours as needed following the package instructions. If taken at first onset it usually works for me. You may not to ensure you do not have gout. Shellfish usually causes an onset. But Aleve or other antiinflamatory is usually prescribed for this unless you need a stronger prescribed medicine from your doctor. If you eat shellfish try to eliminate it from your diet and see if anything changes.

My 91 yo mom has 3 forms of arthritis: osteoarthritis; psoriatic arthritis; and Rheumatoid arthritis throughout her entire body but also in feet and hands. See a Rheumatologist about testing for RA. Really crossing my fingers that you don't have it. After that find yourself a great podiatrist for his/her opinion. Good luck.
