This!
Needless to say, no, I'm not a trusting person. It takes a lot for me to trust any given individual and even then, if they break my trust, I end up chastising myself beause I know better.
It's not just something I was born with. I learned, for VERY good reasons from a very young age, not to be trusting. Being a realist has served me pretty well.

In many ways I am very careful of my surroundings etc.... I am always aware of what is going on around me... lock my car doors first thing when I get in the car etc...... I do listen to my intuition.
But, I think I do let my guard down in some cases.... say when a repair man comes to the house or someone to give me an estimate on yard work etc ..... I let this "stranger" from the company I am doing business with in my home alone with me... or in the back yard etc... without my husband being home most of the time. I suppose I feel that if they are working for a company they should be fine.. but WHAT DO I REALLY KNOW ABOUT THESE PEOPLE? Nothing!
I think I have the mindset that people are basically good..... but, I know that the world is full of evil as well and many times evil comes appearing as good. So I feel at a rock and and hard place.... to live your life fearing everyone and everything is no way to live, but, on the other hand you can be in control of your safety by awareness, not taking chances.... and not being a victim.
Problem is that these people who do evil and bad things are so good at what they do they can fool even the most careful person.

You and I have talked before about having very similar backgrounds that warrants our lack of trust.
Being a realist has served me very well too.

Hey IG! Yeah, it's not good that others have had to live through abuses and cruelties, but I know that I'm not alone and I think that helps a little.
You get conditioned when those who you should have been able to trust were the ones doing horrible things to you so it just goes out from there - how would I possibly know I could trust anybody else if those who should be most trusted were hurting me.
Animals, OTOH, are pure. They don't hurt anybody unless it's food-chain related or self-defense. I love animals to the nth degree and beyond. They are probably one of the few things that have kept me going in this life. Scuba diving was one of the best things this life has brought me. The underwater world is magnificent, peaceful, and beautiful. I also love the sharks and all the rest of the sea animals a great deal.
Best to ya!

@Sweet_SerenityI like the way you think & I agree with you! Why would anyone give a stranger online money, bless her heart, she'll never see her $ or him!

Hey there sweet lady!
I agree with everything you said, I have a sign in my den that says, "The more I get to know some people, the more I like dogs" and a t-shirt that says, If my dog doesn't like you, I won't either:
They have great intuition!
BTW, are you getting good results from the cream or just 'so-so'?

Life taught me early that my well-being is best in my own hands.
That said, while I do not have any shape, or form of ESP, or that sort of thing, I am quite accurate in spotting people I need to stay away from.
Too bad, really.
@hckynut @KingstonsMom & @chickenbutt I feel you
