I love love love to dance,  DH and I met in Jazz Club where he was the best jiver on the floor - we won lots of competitions.

In U.S. we learned line dancing and I also  went to clogging classes which I loved.  Here in CA we have - when Club is open - done swing dancing.  Our favourite though is jiving and we are always jigging around here at home - grandkids love it!

No. My parents did not dance nor did I. I hated wedding dances because my Ex whose family danced and played music left me  alone all evening while he  danced with other women. He would twirl around all night. His parents could jitterbug and the whole family had rhythm.

The Hustle and other Disco dances.  i tried to learn Swing and even took lessons with DH and the thing is,  the lead dancer has to lead and have the moves like the man in the video. (my hubs really uncoordinated - we even tried two-step -nope )

My  Mom and Dad were great at the Lindy, Jitterbug, Big Band styles dancing.  They met at a Saturday night dance in 1950.

@hckynut  Now see I would think you'd be good at Shag dancing!  Lots of fancy footwork and moves from skating that you could use!  C'mon John, cut the rug! 😉

Hmm! Never heard of "Shag" dancing.  I will say I made many attempts at dancing at "our parties" when young. Don't know they had a specific name, but had not most there not been partially inebriated, they would have gotten a good laugh I am sure.

Now I do "skate to the music", to some degree. Do the quick step on certain songs that are upbeat. Songs that are more like a love type song, I take long, smooth strides to the tunes of the music.

I doubt anyone there knows I am doing this but me, but I have fun. Of course that is when I stay upright. So far, so good this season. No "ooopsies", yet!

"Cut the rug"?  Nah, but do get some ice a flyin at times!     =^..^=

@hckynut  Alright then.  I'll give you a pass on the dancing.  Maybe someday though you can share a video of you doing some of those smooth skating moves!  😀

I was born in the 60's but was too young for the disco scene (dancing) and didn't like the sound of the music.

I always enjoyed (classic) rock but really didn't dance to it, you kind of just swayed at concerts or listening to it.

Something about hip hop (and rap) is really easy to move to.  I don't listen to the words and at weddings they don't play the vulgar stuff (maybe I don't hear it...lol).

I never got into line dancing or the electric slide, but do it if I get dragged in.

My husband took me to my senior prom and it was the first time I ever saw him dance.  I was mortified.  Any time we went to parties or to bars, thankfully he remained seated-- although he can slow dance really well.

He has gotten better with dancing and this past year we have binge watched so many series that I insist we get up in between episodes and dance our axes off.  It's actually enjoyable to dance with him now.

I've danced for most of my 74 years. Started with ballet. Hated it. Switched to tap. Loved it and took lessons for many years. I also figure skated. It was definitely a different form of dancing. I then switched to dance aerobics, which I'd been doing for over 35 years...until my health club stopped the classes because of Covid.
