I had planned to be alone. My son & DIL were spending the day with the part of her family, I don't care for. Then talking with my closest friend, discovered she was also going to be alone. We met @Cracker Barrel (very early), had a very pleasant meal & visit. Then came home to watch a marathon of my favorite TV show. I would say it was a perfect day, other than not getting to see my family, but they are close & I see them very often.

I'm sorry you're alone and missing your mom. My mom died last Thanksgiving and I miss her like crazy too. It's difficult and I feel for you.
Two days ago we found out Dad has pancreatic cancer. All I could think of at Thanksgiving dinner was that it might be our last one with Dad.

Dear Reever, I'm sorry you were alone on Thanksgiving. I don't know where you live, I live in the south. I would have gladly met with you and enjoyed some brussel sprouts and turkey. We could have shared memories of our mothers and past holidays. There are threads on "Among Friends" where you can have friends galore, tell us about your mother and you. Please go to this thread and stay in touch with friends every day. This invitation goes out to everyone who need to expand their family and friends. You are never alone, you have friends waiting to meet you and would love to hear about your mother and you. I'll be watching for you, your friend, SC

I have no idea where you live, but you would have been welcomed with open arms here in So. California. You really do have more friends than you know on this blog. And many, it seems, can relate to you. I, also, am sending you a big hug and warm “post Thanksgiving” wishes. You matter to us❣️God bless😊

I tried to be festive. Made roasted Brussels sprouts and stuffing with a pre made rotisserie chicken. But all alone. Had QVC on as background noise. I ate dinner with Leah Williams then switched to Brett Hamilton and Rachel on QVC2.
I am saddened. I miss my departed mother and her meals. I am drawn to tears but trying to be thankful for what I have.
I was alone most of the day too...(my boys stopped by on the way to their cousins)...they came back later, by then it was late.. I was in bed watching TV...they got in bed w/me..and we watched crime shows...lol! They used to do that when they were little! I didn't want them to leave..but they both had to work today~Remember watching The Twilight Zone during New Years??? We used to have fun snuggling and watching that...ahh, the good old days!

OMG, that's so sad, but I'm glad you were able to spend what probably was his last Thanksgiving with your dad.

I spent the day on the couch with a sinus infection and missed Thanksgiving with 23 members of our family. I also did not want to share my germs. However I am fortunate to have a very large family to share our holidays with so I didn’t feel lonely just disappointed. Our family ranges from age 2 to 88. We are blessed.
