For next year? I wish I had thought of this last year. And maybe could of looked into it but now I would like to know if you can take classes just to do my own taxes not for a business. I pay $220 each year and we don't have a mortgage anymore but my husband is retiring this year and to save money I want to learn how to do them.I have done Turbo Tax and if you make a mistake you can't even get back to it. I even spoke to tax expert they have online and they couldn't even help. What a run around. Its cheaper for a reason!

Maybe a local junior college?
Sometimes I work out my taxes on the paper form before I go through the TurboTax process. Then I have a general idea what to expect, even though TurboTax makes it almost too easy.

Try a local community college

Try H & R Block or any other company that does taxes.

With things like Turbo tax, they are very easy to do on your own

@cuddlesmama, H&R Block has Tax Classes every fall, starting about Sept. (call your local office) and they are really very good, not that expensive either!

I would think that it might be worth paying someone to do it. Doing it right would save you enough money to pay them. Nothing like having to miss something and find out later you were not rihght in your calculations or determining the best way to file so you get the most benefit.
My tax person (with the new tax codes) checks and rechecks and sends away the best option for hubby and me. She earns itl and I benefit from her expertise.
Very simply put... your mistakes will cost you more than you pay your advisor.

I use Turbo Tax online and never have a problem going back into my filing as long as I haven't filed yet.
Are you using the CD version on Turbo Tax?

I have been doing Turbo Tax for several years now. When I saw my acct. was doing it that way and filing electronically filing I just did it myself. It is a piece of cake, or should I say Pi(e) since today is 3.14 National Pie Day!

I've always used TaxAct and just answer their questions, then viola! I'm finished with it. It's kind of fun. If you've got a return done by a pro last year, you can use that as a guide.
