When I was first in banking, the small town I lived in had a bank on each corner of the main intersection downtown.  One of our employees would take the checks that were drawn on each bank and just walk them over to that bank for processing.  We would also put $20,000 cash in a bag and the vault teller would walk it down the street to load into our ATM that was in the mall.  No thought that it might be dangerous!
