Re: Annabelle Update 5/16/22

Sounds like she's making good improvement! A 5 foot distance with her injuries is certainly working her tolerance. I'm so proud of her. And understand "forgetting her cane" comment. Those things are annoying!

She'll probably regain balance fine without it when having a good day anyway. Often those who take it upon themselves to work outside the perameters, heal better and quicker than those who hesitate to try new things! I confident Annabelle will do whatever she's able as soon as she wants. She has savvy and chutzpa to try before someone suggests it!

ATTA GIRL, Annabelle! You'll rock this healing process. Heart

BTW: I still have massive black/blue brusing on my left leg from the auto accident where that woman slammed into my car and totalled both vehicles and left me with three breaks in my back and one to my leg. She walked away.
My specialists say those are bruises to the bones and probably won't ever go away. (No pain anymore, of course.) But WOW. Bodies are resiliant! Smiley LOL

@ECBG : The walker folds up. I have a wooden tray with handles that sits perfect on top of the seat. I use the tray on the walker especially when I am in the kitchen and need to remove items from the refrigerator. Or taking my extra items to any room in the house.

Just adding something we learned when my husband had a severely fractured femur:  rolling walkers aren't recommended for everyone and especially with orthopedic injuries.  Our docs and PT's prescribed a walker without wheels! For safety reasons.  Same with my sister with broken ankles:  no wheels.  Both went from plain old walkers with tennis balls on legs to canes and then on.  Will just depend on what is going on with Anna long term.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

@ECBG

Thank you for the update, I am glad to hear about her progress. All recoveries from immobility start with the very 1st step. Everything from there is progress regardless of the length of time it takes.

Give her my best wishes along with so many others here. Thank you.

If memory serves me correctly, she posted that she has a half moon stairway leading up to her front door.

At the time we were considering one when building, but our home is raised up about 7 feet from the ground and it would've taken up too much space in the front yard.

Many times people don't have a railing installed with this style.

ETA:  I'm not positive it was Annabelle though, I could be wrong!
