$14,800. That's the total of the checks and gift cards that my daughter and new son in law received from their wedding on Saturday. I'm a little shocked. Change that I'm a lot shocked. They were married privately by a jp in a wedding chapel with just parents and siblings attending, followed by a reception for about 70 in their home and garden. It was beautiful and fun and the food was great. But the generosity surprised me. They left early today on their honeymoon to Hawaii and asked me to record and then deposit the checks and to keep the gift cards and presents (which were few) for them until they return. I photopied the checks and deposited them into my daughter's account this morning. Hubby swore that I must have made a math error....lol So, glad I copied the checks to prove him wrong..lol Her sister had a big formal wedding for 85 but she received more gifts and not nearly as much in cash. Probably because she was registered at several places so her guests knew what to buy. There are still things they want to do in the house, like setting up the nursery and an au pair room. So, the money will certainly come in handy.

Wow.
This just might be the tackiest post I have ever seen here.

I'm not quite sure why someone would give out this information. It's almost as bad as being asked how much one made.

Totally inappropriate to even THINK about posting this.

Not even sure how to respond, since it appears just to be a "brag" post? I dunno.

We had a Court House Wedding, performed by a Judge. Our grand total from cash and checks? Zero, exactly what we wanted.

OMG........I think this information is a little personal. I hope your daughter is alright with you giving this info over the Internet for hundreds of people to see.

I wonder what your daughter and son-in-law are going to say when they find out you posted this. What was your reason for telling us? Maybe you had good intentions and are genuinely shocked by the generosity of the guests, BUT this is not something one usually tells others except to maybe a few close relatives or friends. It borders on tacky, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and hope that you are just a bit naive.
Setting up the nursery? And an au pair room? THAT just caught my eye.
Maybe you're just having fun with us and made up this whole tale. Hmm . . .
