Went to the shooting range for the first time in over a year. I was immediately reminded why one ALWAYS aims for the trunk. I did finally hit the little x, but that body was standing still and so was I.

I used to go with my nephew - to a local range frequented by police.  They like to show you better techniques if you ask for pointers.

I'm a pretty good shot - and I think it's a fun hobby. THOUGH TOO LOUD, even with foam ear plugs under the headband ear protective gear.

Many years ago, the very first time I went I left my "shot up cut out" on my parent's dining room table...& when they returned from their weekend away they knew it was from me. My dad was proud of my ability and my mother was rather horrified.

My husband has a firearm, and has shown me how to use it, if heaven forbid I needed to protect myself at home.  I'd not hesitate.

@MoonieBaby I used headphones, but the guy in the bay next to ours was shooting some sort of high power rifle and I flinched every time he shot.

I stick with a revolver because semi-automatics have too many things to remember for someone like me who only shoots on occasion. And who needs to worry about that in an emergency?  The main thing was that I was hitting the target from a distance that pretty much equals the distance from my side of the bed to the bedroom door.

I was also pointing out for those who always ask why the police didn't shoot someone in the leg or arm (both of which can still kill you if they hit an artery), the chance of missing is so much greater especially if the suspect is moving, no matter how good a shot the policeman is.  And if he misses, what or, more importantly, who could that bullet hit?

Shooting at the range is fun. Much better than a video game.

I shot my first gun when I was around 20.  I held that 357 magnum out with my elbows bent a little.  No one told me to lock them.  When I pulled the trigger, the gun kicked back and hit me in the chest.  It knocked me off of my feet.  I never made that mistake again and never lived that down.

@Carmie , I remember as a teen a couple of guys handing me a 12-guage shotgun to shoot.  While I had never shot one, I did know exactly what they were hoping for and I wasn't going to let that happen.

I am a better shot with a rifle than a handgun, or at least I used to be.

I love going shooting. I bought a Colt Python 357 in the 80s for $400.00. I sold it 3 years ago for $1800.00 at a gun show. Everyone who saw it was drooling over it. I took the highest bid! I'll buy another, less expensive, one day.

I have a little Keltec.  It is convenient but it  just never fit my hand just right.  Thinking of getting a Lady Remington.  I need to sharpen my skills because I want to qualify for a concealed carry.

@VegasBusinessWoman , around here all you need for concealed carry is to pass a backgrouond check.  We are also an open carry state with absolutley no requirements for that.  There's occasionally a bill introduced to make the state just a carry state, but I'm against that.  I don't mind forking over a few dollars a year to the Sheriff's office for my CC permit.  I know a law won't keep unlawful concealed carry, but I do think it should be in place.

I've been around guns all my life, but I did take a gun safety course several years ago, just because.  That's when I learned I really didn't care for semi-automatics.  I think everybody that keeps a gun, especially for self protecction, should practice using it regularly.

People watch too much TV for sure. I don't even shoot but it seems clear to me if you actually need to shoot at someone it isn't a game and you do it with the intent to stop them flat.

These people who think you can knock them down by hitting a leg or even better just shoot the gun out of the other guy's hand. Shaking my head.
