Could you have maybe gone back to sleep until folks woke up?  I think I have seen a sunrise maybe twice in my adult life because I am not a morning person at all. I have to be at work by 9am and I get up at 8am and sometimes push it until 8:15.  On weekends, I sleep until 9am.  My husband is up at 5am on days he is off (he's up at 2:30am on workdays) and I always tell him jeeze why don't you just roll over and go back to sleep? He tells me getting up at 5am is sleeping late for him!

I think I would definitely ask how to operate the press so you can enjoy your early cup without worrying about waking anyone.

On Sundays, we get up and are out of the house by 6:30am to go to breakfast and grocery shopping.

Today we did Publix and 2 different Food Lions and still could not get everything on the list!

I am a night owl and often don't go to bed til 3AM.  Of course since I am retired I don't get up even if I'm awake (I will dose) until approx 11 a.m.  Can imagine going to bed before midnight.  No point as I couldn't fall asleep.

When I worked of couse I had to get up at 7 a.m. and went to bed a little earlier (probably midnight or 1 a.m.  But that really wasn't my internal time clock.  I am better this way.  When younger and didnt work I would do housework often somewhere between 10 p.m. and midnight.
