I don't have animals but do use Amazon's program that sounds like these. I often wondered if the funds actually go to the charity. I've worked with the charity I give to in the past and have never ever heard them say that they get a big chunk of money donated through Amazon, and I have seen the donations in their budget documents.

@Carolina925, I take advantage of Amazon's Smile program. I have no qualms about the legitimacy of the donations and love when I see that band that tells the total that has gone to my charity.

I use the smile.amazon also when ordering. They actually give a very small amount of money to your charity. The websites I am talking about don't give money---they give bowls of food, mammograms for those who can't afford it, books to children etc. It only take a few minutes a day to help out these 9 charities. Try it. You don;t have to buy anything like the smile program.

I used to buy stuff from them occasionally but haven't in a long time. I will have to revisit that site.

@geegerbee, especially for those who spend a lot of money on Amazon, it adds up. Every little bit, though, helps so much.

And of course there is no limit in terms of choosing ways to give. :-)

Now you can go there every three hours, up to eight times a day and do another click. After you sign up the first time they'll send you an email that will take you right to the site.

@Carolina925 - I always order through the Smile Amazon site and have donations made to my local cat shelter.  They receive a check every quarter for the total amount accumulated and I get an email telling me how much they received.

@Venezia , thanks so much. It makes me feel a bit better actually knowing it goes to the charity. It's really nice that they send you a thank-you!
