Re: 2025 Rockefeller Center Tree Announced

Perfect tree!

My grandparents had a Christmas tree farm. I used to walk in the back forest and see a few huge ones with a tag way up top. Once in a while my uncles would miss a tagged tree.

This reminds me of my younger days. And this is why I will always have real trees in my home!  Smiley Happy

Readers help me...there is a novel(maybe a mystery) about someone that donated a tree to Rockefeller. I cannot remember the title.

Thanks to all.

@Group 5 minus 1 I did a quick Google, and the only thing I came up with was The Carpenter's Gift, but it's a childrens's book.

@Group 5 minus 1,

The Christmas Thief by Mary Higgins Clark?

The tree, originally donated by the Von Trapp family is transported to NY for the Rockefeller Center tree and is stolen. The cops and the thieves both try to retrieve the tree which has diamonds hidden inside.

Re: 2025 Rockefeller Center Tree Announced

@catter70

We had a 35 year old fast growing Maple tree that lived out its life.  So many memories with that tree from our daughter to her children climbing it and taking photos under or in it.  The beautiful fall leaves, shade from the morning sun (sigh).  DH single handedly took it down, cut it up and hauled it to the burn pile in the pasture.  Our granddaughter was about 9 or 10, so that was 8 or 9 years ago.  It's the same tree that he's recently spent weeks and weeks to remove the stump and a LOT of large roots so he could plant a flag pole there.  Stubborn man wouldn't spend a couple of hundred dollars for a professional stump removal.

Gorgeous tree.  Sad in a way to have it cut down.
