Would you embark on a 3 yr 163 country cruise if given the chance?

A couple I know who are now FB friends signed up for a 3 yr, 163 country trip that starts I. Istanbul in 2024. It will cost the 2 of them about $200,000. There is medical services and WI fi onboard and they prepack a pod ( equals 2 closets of clothing). Includes all meals etc except alcohol but no cruise tours when you are ashore. They are both in their late 70s and lived in Malta for several years and have been to about 40 countries already. Would you do this? I would if family obligations and DHs healthcare didn't preclude it. Think about it: no house upkeep, no cars etc but of course it has its own issues. Would you do it?

If I did not have the cats to worry about I would do it in a heartbeat.

While it sounds like a great trip, I couldn't do it. I wouldn't want to be away from family and friends for that long. I would much prefer taking month long trips to different destinations.

No I wouldn't go:

1- I wouldn't want to live on a boat for 3 years.

2- I wouldn't trust the medical care if something were to happen.

3- **I would never leave my son & DIL for that amount of time.**

4- I love vacations but by the end of week #2 or 3, I want to go home & sleep in my own bed.

No way. I would never go on any cruise for that matter. Being away from home for that length of time could be problematic, but it is being captive on a ship at sea I could not tolerate.

No; I rarely venture over county lines, and going to another country has never interested me. I do not have an adventurous spirit.

No, I discovered I'm not fond of cruising. We had a rough trip on an Alaskan cruise, I'd never want to sail in the open ocean. It's too rough and who wants to be miserable all the time? I've vowed to be a confirmed land lubber, thank you. New Mexico is as exotic as I want to get.

That sounds so exciting and a part of me would just love to something like that. But I have seven grands and I would never want to miss three years of their lives.

Grand number eight is due in about five months. He would be almost three before I ever saw him!

No way. I'm a homebody...I have everything the way I like it here. That being said, a 3 day to 1 week getaway on land would be fine.

I'll pass. Too long. Too much boat. Too much water. For starters, I'm not sure there are that many countries I'd even want to see.

I have always been a traveler. My family calls me the gypsy. I have been traveling most of my life to many countries that most people didn't want to visit back then as well as some popular places.

I would love the opportunity to travel for three years. But, We have two young dogs and I wouldn't want to leave them. They are very attached and with us 100% of the time except for maybe an hour here and there.

I would miss my children and grandchildren and I have an older sister and a younger brother who are not well and a friend in a senior home that I am POA for. She has no one else help her.

I would go in a heartbeat, but have obligations preventing me from doing so.

I would love to go if I could. The world has always called for me to visit.

Big no. I'd rather watch a video of foreign lands than actually go there. Yeah...that's right. I dislike travel. Any travel. I think travel is over-rated.

No. DH and I are traveling the lower 48 as time and money allows. There are so many places in the USA I've never been.

We've cruised around the Hawaiian Islands and inside passage to Alaska.

A 3-year cruise doesn't interest me.

I think that sounds like a great adventure! I would be interested if I didn't have a family. But, like others have said, I would never be away from my children, grandchildren and aging parents for that long. Heck, I don't like going longer than a week without seeing all my grandbabies. ❤️
