When is QVC going to start addressing microplastics in the construction of the products it offers for sale??

Especially the ones that are used for the preparation or storage of food?

Almost everything manufactured has microplastics in it...from Polyester clothing and sheets, cosmetics and cosmetics arriving in plastic jars or plastic containers, soles on shoes, faux leather and many other items.

There would be very little on the shelves anywhere if microplastics were addressed and banned.

What should QVC do about this? This is a project for our government to straighten out. By the time it is addressed, it will have been too late. It's already everywhere.

How about medicine capsules, supplements, vitamins. They're in everything.

If QVC refused to sell anything with microplastics they'd be out of business.

NO! "Do not get use to it" as someone flippantly responded. Micro plastics are harmful across the board. They are everywhere. I noticed everything I came home with from the grocers had plastic wrapped around it.

I am doing little things like water bottles made of glass, storage containers made of glass, and substituting what I bring home from the grocers with reuseable cloth bags.

There so many health problems attributed to plastics. Just because they are everywhere doesn't mean you can't make your own world healthier.

Microplastics are in the air we breathe and in the water we drink. There isn't a place on earth where they can't be found. Reducing microplastics in the home can help but to reduce all of it is impossible. It's an uphill battle.

There is no definitive scientific evidence that mp causes health problems. Everything so far is only speculative and more research needs to be done. There are a lot of unknowns concerning mp and its potential links to certain health issues.

Each and every consumer can make their own choices.

It certainly is not up to QVC to address the issue. I do wonder what the OP would like QVC and every other retailer to do.

@SilleeMee You are right it is an up hill battle. There is Harvard study that suggests that yes mircoplastics are harmful, and everywhere. They aren't the only study. Across the board they are harmful from fetus to our kitchens. However, I don't need a Harvard study to tell me they are causing more health problems.

They are harming our oceans as well our own homes.

I will do what I can to keep my family healthy as small as it might be in the scope of things.

I could ditto what has already been posted about microplastics being everywhere. DH and I (and maybe our children) are too old to worry about what they are going to do to our brains. Something is going to kill us anyway. It's great that our grandchildren are being made aware of the dangers of microplastics and other harmful substances. They might be able to do something about it.

I hope they are also aware of the harm going into their minds and hearts. I think my grandchildren at least have a fighting chance on that front.

It's going to be a difficult road ahead to prove that microplastics are the actual cause of some the health-related issues. The big question is are they causing the issues or are microplastics found in the affected tissues of sick individuals there b/c of the ubiquitous nature of the microplastics? They could have been there long before any problems came about. The microplastics just happen to be discovered while 'in the hospital', in other words, and not associated with the cause of the illness at all.

Because I wanted to err on the side of caution, I purchased a filter "Life Straw" which makes the claim that it removes microplastics.

The water tastes really clean and I find it works well for me.

Good luck waiting for the government or the manufacturers to address this.

The Washington Post reported on September 20, 2025, that the Environmental Protection Agency has ordered scientists to immediately pause almost all efforts to publish research. It also reported that in July, the EPA announced plans to dismantle its scientific research branch, the Office of Research and Development, which had been tasked with conducting independent research to assess impacts on human health and the environment. So there is that.

With regards to food storage and cooking, the recommendation is to stick to glass or metal. I guess storage lids can be plastic. I have read silicone utensils are OK. I am using wood, metal.

That's not on big corporations' radar. Their one and only concern is making a profit (which it looks like Q isn't even able to do anymore).

Microplastics contribute to the brain disease I have so I try to do my best to reduce them around me.

But they are everywhere in the air, ground, waterways, food, etc. No one can get away from them.

It seems there are some folks who have a problem with QVC - prices, shipping, customer service, hosts abd now microplastics.
