Why oh why do the show at the bottom of the page

"Buy Again"??????

why would i buy a purse, a cardigan etc again?

i don't mind " we think you may like" that's fine... but i don't want to buy the same thing again...

just feel they can better use that space to sell something else, not a repeat...

@hkrgrl I tend to buy only brands with which I am familiar. If I own and like an item and now it's available in another color, I do consider buying a duplicate.

I don't think any of the messages we get from companies we order from remotely are personal. I ignore any of them for which I haven't already identified a need or a strong want.

Every day my first onscreen task is to delete emails urging me to buy - QVC actually sends me fewer than do many other companies.

thanks for answering but not really what i am talking about.

its on Q's homepage, not an email.

not saying it 'personal' just i don't need a visual reminder to 'buy again' the same exact item.

i think they can that space more effectively than showing what u already bought and should buy again.

This is common for all online stores. And I have read where many on these forums buy "another" item because they discovered they liked it so much. As @millieshops says, it's not personal, it's a sales tactic.

Most importantly studies show these pop ups do increase sales. It's not clear exactly how much, it ranges between 3-25% depending on the type of pop up. With that said, it's known that many customers will leave the site due to too many pop-ups.

As long as a business is making more money than they are losing, based on pop-ups, it will continue.

@hkrgrl That's normal for online shopping. If you've ever purchased from Amazon, they do the exact same thing at the bottom of their home page. It's a reminder to buy it again if you liked it, especially if the item had no auto-delivery program.

Many online retailers will do this if you've purchased from them in the very recent past. Metrics much show that it generates additional sales. That's why they do it.

@hkrgrl My response to you came from when I first signed into this very page. I DO buy repeats of brands and even items with which I am familiar. Companies try to entice as many different kinds of shoppers as they can.

It was only my second paragraph that referred to emails. I thought I had noted that.

Most of my Amazon orders are from the buy again section. They always indicate if the price has gone down , and when it does usually order again.

For many items, there would be no reason to buy multiples. They are items you purchase once and hopefully have for a long time. It's different for items that have a lot of use, unless you are just purchasing for gifts.

That said, I have purchased repeats of the same items many times. I purchased five pair of identical pajamas I loved and still have them all. I'd buy five more, if they were still available. The same with favorite t-shirts and casual wear, although I may buy different colors. Also cosmetic items always need refreshing. So, there's lots of reasons to buy again to stock up day-to-day items.

If I find something I like, I will always go back for more. I have stashes of things I don't want to run out of e.g., skin care, body washes, candles, etc. I just don't need someone to remind me to --- buy again. No one does.

Why oh why would something like this even bother anyone. It's like every other retail website.

I don't see buy again on my home page even after I log in to my account. I don't shop at the Q very often so maybe that's why I'm not seeing what you are? I'm using the QVC App on my iPad.

When I sign in to Amazon I use my list of previous purchases to buy those items again. Mostly household things, although I have repeat bought a few clothing items and underwear.

I see suggestions for what to buy instead of buy again when I log in to other shopping sites I've purchased from in the past.

@BlueFinch I also often buy it again after that website nudge, and send it to a different address. That becomes a gift, or just something I now know that a family member would like. I know how it fits, tastes, cleans, or operates.

why this is irksome to me, is b/c i would not buy the same exact handbag @ $150 or more

the same exact cardigan

the same exact boot

the same exact sandal etc...

it would not bother me if they showed me the same boot in a different color, that's fine.

point being: the same exact item.

like i said, i don't mind suggestions for something in the same category, that's fine and i do understand sales tactics.

amazon is a whole different animal than QVC in my eyes....they have soup to nuts. its not apples to apples..

maybe b/c i scroll down to get the forums, that i see it a couple of times a day and i find it just annoying.. oh well, i can feel annoyed just like everyone else here.

this sales tactic does the opposite of its purpose for/to me.
