Webmaster, please come out from behind the curtain and address some of the issues that have made these forums extremely unfriendly and unpleasant. Posters are being accused by other posters as being bullies because they may say something unflattering about a host. If these types of posts are against the rules or if you feel that these comments are so hurtful to the hosts and their families, you should be the one to step in and either say something or delete the post. Yet you sit back and let others argue and make unkind accusations about each other for their posts. Step up and monitor these boards like you are getting paid to do and stop letting posters do your job. You should let posters know that if you feel that a particular post is causing pain to a host and her family, you will be the one to handle it according to your moral and ethical compass....and to the terms of service .

If they start censoring all negative comments on these boards, what's next? Then they'll eliminate all negative product reviews... We're all being honest here, and everyone's entitled to their opinion. Sometimes a little constructive criticism is a good thing!

I get what OP is saying. There is a difference between constructive criticism opinions and out and out nasty. There are some who seem to not know the difference and when you see their nic you know it's going to be a nasty and often hateful post!! They seem to live for and enjoy starting those types of posts that serve no purpose except to start a controversy over nothing! There is also a way to word an "opinion" so as not to be offensive. Such as stating "while it's really so and so's personal choice, I really thought her hair didn't compliment her features very well" instead of stating - "so and so's hair was a mess and QVC needs to instruct her on how to wear her hair or she should be fired!!! While I don't understand the need to even comment on such things, there is nothing offensive about it if it's just an opinion stated nicely. Nastiness and posting such nonsense about hosts, vendors and models is definitely against posting policy. It's all in the wording but tactful wording would not get the response and attention these posters crave.

I've seen posts called "nasty" that really weren't that bad. There's a group here--many posting at same time--that seem to think their role in life is board police telling others to mind their manners or they question one's upbringing. It's getting old, and I think something should be done about it. In their righteous attempts, they're the ones who come across as bullies, yet webbie just sits back and selectively poofs.

Hello, K9buddy.

I think I get what you're saying. Many posters seem to get mad at the smallest things. Even if you try to be nice or politely disagree, they just still get so mad and then they twist what you say and try to make you seem like the bad guy.

And good gracious, if there's a group that jumps on a poster, watch out. They'll just verbally rip that person to shreds, then go about posting like nothing happened and think the poster they jumped on deserved it. Then when they're called out on it, they say the person needs to grow a thicker skin and pull up their big kid panties or they accuse people of being a new nic that only joined to cause trouble. I really don't post much on this forum anymore because of that. I like to talk about Nick Chavez and very little else.

Otherwise, people just go mad at everything and nothing, and it makes it difficult. All I can do is put some people on ignore and stay away from certain threads and sub-forums all together.

It would be uncalled for to point out a camera person's speech impediment or bad grammar since that person doesn't rely on speech to communicate with customers. We don't want a sloppy painter to paint our homes; we don't want someone who's bad at math to manage our finances. So why shouldn't we expect our shopping channel host to have non-distracting communication skills? I'm under the impression a couple of QVC hosts got the job because someone in the ivory tower thought they were pretty. In this field, they need more than a pretty face.

Nastiness and posting such nonsense about hosts, vendors and models is definitely against posting policy. It's all in the wording but tactful wording would not get the response and attention these posters crave.

Pook, I understand what you are saying and I agree with exception. I think that saying her hair is a mess or QVC needs to instruct her how to wear her hair is acceptable. If someone were to say her hair looks filthy and it needs washing or her face looks dirty and pimply or she is a fat mess is not acceptable. When people comment on a persons speech and say he or she needs speech therapy, that is uncalled for.

When we discuss show host's and say things that we do not like about them it can be done nicely. I admit I have said some things I should not have and I realize now that I need to improve as do many others.

The posters that come in and annihilate a poster for giving an opinion that differs from theirs is what the webmaster needs to address.

Maybe this thread will be a wake up call for all of us.

IMO posting about a host's speech problems and bad grammar is fair game since the career is communications.

I had not thought about it that way and I agree with you.

I don't like any type of censorship and think that private or not, the Q webmaster should not interfere with posts. Let people say what they want and fight it out if they need to, it's been my experience that people will get tired of the nonsense and move on. This forum used to be a lot more fun and interesting when it wasn't so extremely censured.
