Considering almost every outlet in my house is in use, I don't think EVERYTHING is battery operated. Sometimes, a battery operated device isn't as strong as it's electric counterpart. And then there's the issue of continually buying batteries or having to re-charge.

If you have a cord then you need an electrical outlet which can be a problem especially when you have so few of them to use.

I definitely don't enjoy buying batteries all the time, but it just isn't practical to have a bunch of decor items that need to be plugged in to function. There isn't always an outlet (or an open receptacle) in the areas where I want to put things, the cords often become cumbersome, and they always look tacky. I appreciate it when larger decor items offer a plug option, but for smaller things that sit on a tabletop or mantel, batteries are almost always preferable.

Very smart! Now, however, we use Bethlehem Lights battery operated window candles. Bethlehem Lights offers window candles that are plug-in, but we bought the BL battery operated because the look is so clean.

QVC does offer some plug-in options for some decorations, Last year I bought Valerie's snowflake glitter sphere with a USB charger. That was a game changer, because the previous version gobbled batteries.

I use several plug in products like a heating pad and several hair tools. I don't have a problem with them in, but I enjoy using battery operated items too. It just depends on what I am using and where I am using it. Our pasture barns are well lit and all from battery lighting. But we also have a small portable gas generator for items/tools that need a plug in. One of our vets used a plug in drill to float our horses teeth, so the generator worked well for him. Some people like us might really need both options.
