Offer free returns

Qvc should seriously consider free returns!!! I just returned a clothing item because size was to big and was charged $6.95. That did it for me, you've just lost a long time customer forever!!!!

@Glam1972 While I am sorry something didn't work out for you, it puzzles me that you are a long time customer and just NOW realized they don't have free returns? I have been a customer since 1986 and they have never offered a free return.

They have implemented the "Free Exchange" which I have never attempted. This started a couple years ago. I believe it would not financially work for QVC. They are struggling. I don't see free returns happening any time soon.

On that note, I thoroughly read the "click here" measurements as well as read reviews and never have issues with sizing. Just a suggestion.

Yes- $6.95 to try on a clothing item. No way, and I used to buy most of my clothes here.

No more. Deal Breaker.

In addition, QVC's clothing prices are way more than what they are worth to me.

@queendiva Yes, I believe that is why they can't offer free shipping. Too many would purchase "just to try on". Now, if they changed their return policy I am sure it would require the item to be returned "new" and "unused". I prefer to be able to wash an apparel item to be sure it washes well. And especially shoes, I need to actually wear them to know if they would work.

So, I think QVC would have to change their policy for the condition of an item and for me, I like that I can use something for 30 days, currently over 3 months, to return. Other retailers might offer free returns but you cannot wear an item or use it. And very few retailers allow 4 months like QVC for the Christmas holiday. I buy gifts very early so this is beneficial to me.

I don’t think she is questioning the charge for returns. She is just saying they should offer free returns, and she is right. They should.

This is all part of the reason they are in trouble. QVC makes a lot of money on shipping.

As for size charts and measurements. They can give you a reference, but you can’t tell how the garment will fit and look until you try it on.

It is time for them to change that wear it for 30 days and return policy. That loss is being passed onto us. I’d rather be able to try it on and return new.

They also make money on the returns, so I’m not feeling any sympathy for QVC.

They are in trouble because they are using an old model that worked 35 years ago.

@Glam1972. You should have exchanged it for a different size. Shipping for exchanges, both ways, is free.

Could you imagine the millions of dollars in financial loss that QVC would incur if they offered free return shipping? Their already pricey items would have to increase in price in order to cover it. And then people would be complaining about that.

How? When is the last time you had postage calculated at the USPS or UPS Store? Add to that, the cost of the box and packing materials, or padded envelope. QVC's fees are actually quite reasonable, not to mention all of those charges they " eat" on free shipping days.

“Eat the cost of free shipping” you can’t really believe that?

Look at all the other giants that give both free shipping and free returns. QVC could do it.

No where I shop unless I meet a purchase threshold usually over $60, $99, and even $200, and even then no free return.

Or I pay a member subscription that far exceeds $6.95.

@Glam1972 I think it's a good idea because it keeps me and others not to pay for the returns of someone who just buys things to "play with" then returns--which costs all of us.

From what I've read over the years, makeup frequently gets returned just because.

Headline on the noon news on TV just now, "FREE RETURN SHIPPING GOING AWAY!" increasingly, stores such as Dillard's, TJ Maxx, ABERCROMBIE are charging restocking fees to boot.

And to the others about the "reasonable" cost of shipping the cost is already factored into the price of the item. There should be free shipping always but not free returns unless the item is defective. JMHO!!!!

@manny2 If you're so inclined look for the thread from yesterday on QVCs 3rd quarter results. Their strategies are working and they're no longer "in trouble". The 4th quarter for all of retail looks very positive and for QVC as well.

Also, if anyone thinks QVCs returns are the only ones not free, I just paid $8.95 to return one item to Anthropologie and I spent $25 for expedited shipping from Banana Republic which did not arrive on time with absolutely no apology or offer of a refund, no matter how many times I called.

i also sent my nephew who lives in San Diego a 3lb package from here in NYC and it cost $34 to go UPS!

I don't expect free returns or free shipping.

I understand I am in the minority, but "free shipping" never was and never will be "free."

That is factored into the price of the item no matter how low the price is.

QVC doesn't "eat"anything...they just make less of a profit.

@kaydee50. There will always be unavoidable slight variations that can't be avoided. However, they are not usually significant enough to affect fit. With all the dozens of clothes I've bought, I've never run across one that was significant. I've also never had one with a factory defect.
