Changes in Favorite Brands

I am a long time QVC customer. I used to look forward to new clothing from my favorite designers. There has been a notieable change in the last few years in the quality of design and materials. For example, what has happened to Lori Goldstein? She offers a few really well designed items in quality materials - but most of the line now looks like it came from Target. No offense to Target, but for the price, that's not o.k. Peace Love World, same thing. Fabrics described as luxurious that are actually scratchy. Loved the boho dress from Canyon Retreat, but when it came it looked something I could go pick up at Kohl's, I am all for fabrics that leave a smaller environmental impact, but is that what is happening here? Lot's of rayon products from the Q. Like the Canyon Retreat dress. It's a chemical heavy process to manufacture rayon but it is a cheaper fabric to produce than cotton. No offense intended - but wondering if other's feel the same, that fabric quality is definitely an issue?

Prices and quality have changed everywhere, not just QVC. Natural fabrics like cotton are very expensive now, so that's part of it. I purchase from many different places (including Target btw) and feel the quality is commensurate with the price everywhere.

From reading comments here, many people want rock bottom prices.

Yet, many have a problem with imported items.

You can't have both. Brands are trying to give consumers what they want, but the old adage is still true.

You get what you pay for.

Just looked through a Fall catalog from one of my favorite clothing companies. They have many beautiful items. While many of their clothing items used to be offered in cotton or cotton blends, many are now offered in rayon and/or polyester or other fabrics. I believe this is the only way that they can continue to offer the same beautiful styles at affordable prices I realize that I need to transition to different fabrics if I want to continue to add beautiful clothing items to my wardrobe.

I am not buying Cuddle Duds or Anybody anymore b/c of the fabrics. Items I've bought after washing, they come out of the dryer like dust rags. Also bought a jacket that pilled even before I washed it.

Rayon, nylon, poly, blended, I'm staying away from. I don't expect things to last forever, but a few washings are necessary.

Cuddle Duds pj's tops have not held up. Bottoms do, but tops look like dust cloths quickly.

Lori Goldstein sold her company to Xcel in 2021....

Rayon has been around forever. I've always liked it. Do you mean to say they've messed with it and that it's not the rayon of yesterday?

I've always wondered why Vermont Country Store's prices are so high. It dawned on me after ordering two pairs of pajamas for DH. They showed only cotton. I've always ordered my nightgowns from them, cotton of course, so they run near $70.00. I can't sleep in polyester or any synthetic fabric, they are just too hot. I cruised through the catalog and a light bulb went off, most apparel is cotton.

You have to shop around. I can find quality cotton clothes at a number of retailers, usually for less money than what Q asks for cheap polyester and spandex. I usually go for no-iron cotton.

I don't mind a little spandex in bottoms but avoid it and polyester in tops. Too much polyester is like wearing a plastic bag because it doesn't breathe. My body runs hot and I sure don't need anything that adds to that.

I order Denim & Co and always like the quality, however the prices have really shot up!
