JAI Earring Backs/Clutches

Love JAI earrings, have several pair of leverbacks, and recently purchased J411297, the Symbols of Love hoops with the oversize backs (clutches). Am wondering if the earring clutches are made of sterling and other metals; the earring posts are fine, but the earring backs irritate my earlobes. Suspect I have an allergy to the other metals which comprise the earring backs and can no longer order JAI post and clutch earrings. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've had a bad reaction to ALL Jai Jewelry.

The Cross Earring Studs, Cat Earring Studs. And of course, I have ALL the "Angel Wings" Jewelry. Naturally.. heh

I bought the Angel Wings Ring to honor my beloved, late Dad''s memory, so of course I was out of it for a while after Dad's passing, not in time to return the purchase.

Desperate, I did a "no no," I tried coating the inner circle of the ring, with Clear Nail Polish to buffer my skin from reaction to their Mixed Metals. Nope. Didnt work. My skin still reacted, and badly.

Since I've NEVER, ever reacted to any jewelry in my entire long life, (& I have A LOT, a lot of jewelry), I'm guessing it's some kind of metal mixed in their Jai Sterling?? Esp since it's Every one of Jai's jewelry pieces I own, that I react negatively to.

I'll probably have to take it to a Jeweler for some kind of solution, if I continue to be stuck with it. Unless I unload it somewhere to someone of whom does not have the same adverse reaction. Or just plain take the loss.

@CA Sushee I wear JAI studs all the time and appreciate the backings being nice & large. Perhaps you have a sensitivity to nickel? Sterling silver is 925 silver & the rest of the mix are other metals sometimes including nickel which bothers a lot of people.

Ultra fine silver is hypo allergenci for most people with sensitivities.

I hope you can still wear and enjoy your JAI studs. I'm a fan of their quality.

@CA Sushee Sterling silver isn't 100% silver (925/1000) it is mixed with an alloy to make it more durable.

Typically it is mixed with copper however sometimes nickel and other metals are used.

Hard to tell what was used during production however nickel seems to be a common culprit of skin irritation.

@JoyFilled Warrior, May I ask you a question?. Just purchased a necklace and earrings for a gift. Does copper wire nec and earrings always turn green when wearing? If so can it be sprayed to prevent.? Thank you for your help.
