Suggestion: Tablets for the Hosts

So many times we see hosts struggle with getting the names of colors correct. This has gone on for years.

How about QVC ditch the cards and have the hosts rely on a tablet instead? QVC can have a Host-Only site for the items in their respective show(s) with the item descriptions and colors.

That way they'll see exactly what QVC is calling each color, whether an item is in letter or number sizing, what the correct scents/flavors are, easy dimensions to read off, etc.

Those cards are antiquated; hosts drop them, misplace them, have outdated information on them. A tablet would have everything in one place -- just swipe.

Just a suggestion.

@Caaareful Shopper While it sounds like an updated solution, I think the studio lighting would make a screen hard to see, especially since they walk around and the lights would hit it differently as they walk. At least with cards they can easily put them in pockets or on tables. You need to make enough room for a tablet, on the table, and they wouldn't be able to tuck a tablet in their pockets. They can also write their own notes on the cards if they need them. Also dropping a tablet might not end well for that segment whereas you can easily pick up the cards with no damage done lol.

You would think if it was that easy and better they would have done it (they push enough Ipads lol). I think they also would be too bulky for them to walk around with. But who knows?

I think this is a great innovative suggestion! I've never even thought about how funny it is that in this day and age they still use handwritten notes. An IPad does rely on technology however and that could be an issue.

and while we're on the subject of colors, what is up with some of the silly or overly complicated color names? I know it can be fun and creative to come up with different names for blue or green but all of that over complicating can throw the host off and confuse the customer. Like how NYDJ names their jeans! OMG!

not a great example, but yesterday SG had a jacket she called Fall Olive. Why fall? Is there a difference between a fall olive and a spring or summer olive? 😆. Then the other color was just called brown! It cracks me up actually

They should already have all that information on their cards.

I think they should label each of the actual products with the color name. Even with the colors listed on a tablet, there still is confusion about which color is which when presenting the garment, bag, beauty item etc.

And I agree the color names are often much too complicated!

For years I've suggested they pin a label where the top tag is with the COLOR. I've seen so many situations where there are multiple blues, greens, or whatever. Just two weeks ago I saw them completely run through the samples again, correcting (or not) the colors they just finished with. Your idea would include size ranges and fabric makeup, so I'll back your idea.

There are complaints here on a daily basis. I can't imagine giving my money to a company that causes so much angst and aggravation, just to receive information about an item.

@depglass I agree. There have been a couple of occasions where I have seen the NYDJ jeans presented with large labels hanging down in front with the names on them. That was very helpful and I think they should do that with everything. It would save the hosts from having to look at cards and any confusion when there are two colors that are similar and so they have to guess. It would require more prep work but I think it would be worth it.
