Hosts Leaving

I have noticed over the years that the hosts who leave on their own because of family or other issues are given a beautiful, heartfelt goodbye party on QVC. That didn't happen with Carolyn or Dan. They just said they were leaving to work on other projects. No party or farewell from QVC. They were fired, and everyone knows it!!! We are not fools, QVC!!!

Are you under the impression that QVC was trying to "fool" customers? I don't.

I think you need to accept that all Human Resources information about any QVC employee is really none of your business ... not even if you are a shareholder.

If you are still employed ... or ever have been ... do you think any company you work for should just give out your personal information to others because they are nosy?

They were laid off . Terminated. Services no longer required.

No farewells when that occurs.

No parties or cakes or fanfare or televised good byes with an involuntary separation.

@Jewelrygal They were not fired. They were laid off, along with many other Q employees at that time. Companies don't typically throw parties when they have a layoff.

(400 at QXH US and 85 at Zulily a week later.)

Just let it go. They didn't resign, they were part of a layoff. When people resign or retire, they are happy about it and there's time to plan a goodbye. When you get laid off or fired, it's a shock to everyone and you it's not happy thing. The floor caves in and that's all you can think about.

@Jewelrygal If you knew anything about corporate activity, you'd know parties are never given during lay-offs. They laid off 400 people, would you have expected 400 parties? Carolyn and Dan were no more important than the other 398. Your naviety is showing.

As someone else said, you're beating a dead horse. Move on, it's over.

Others here have noticed that, too. QVC didn't renew some contracts, others look like they were fired and QVC did lay off some in the past, too.

Carolyn and Dan were laid off. No secret QVC was keeping from us. Also, they did not say they wanted to spend more time with family. It appeared they were very surprised.

To me, laid off is just a more acceptable term for "fired." The two did receive a severance package that I am sure did not equal the amount they would have been paid had they not been laid off. They also lost money that would have been paid into SS and most likely some health benefits until they are eligible for Medicare.

I can't see why this is wonderful for them.

Being laid off is devastating. Often those who were laid off are thought they weren't doing their job as well as others when it could have been ageism and making too much money. All of those reasons were discussed here as possibilities.

I do believe Carolyn (64) and Dan who will be 62 this October 27th, are the oldest. If someone knows any other host older than Dan besides Carolyn, please post.

Well, you can always communicate with them on facebook or some other social media platform. Have you done that? Scolding QVC on a message board accomplishes nothing.

Keep in mind ... these hosts may become familiar, but they are not family. They are sales associates.

Being fired means you are terminated from your job due to something that the company deems was your fault. If you are laid off, that means the company deems that they are at fault.

There is a huge difference!! A party is a celebration so common sense indicates that it is just not appropriate!

I'm sorry you feel this way. The hosts are salespeople. I hope you can find people that are more worthy of being cared about.
