Ordering plants

Have the shipping date available instead of will ship for correct time for your area. No one could tell me when it would ship (to shipping address not billing address) we travel between 2 different states and not knowing when it will ship doesn't work! I can't have plants waiting on doorstep for me. Please add delivery dates by zip code so I can ship to appropriate location. Customer service could not get this info for me.

@1Carol I totally understand what you are saying as most plants do have a certain time period for which one needs to plant. I could b wrong but maybe because of the many areas/zones that plants are shipped to across the country that might take more consideration into when they ship.

Something totally different but our Tulip Days in Mount Vernon/Skagit County area is supposed to start April 1 or so but because of the rain/less than expected sun the darn tulips aren't going to be out/about by then - we're being warned but so many people from other areas come to see the bloom & it's going to be later than usual.

Perhaps it would make more sense for you to pick up plants at a local nursery rather than depending on the uncertainty of online ordering and delivery.

@1Carol It's my understanding they don't know yet when the item will ship. It's all depending on weather. Since weather is unpredictable, snow, low temps, tornado's, etc, they don't know at this point when the weather in your area will be appropriate for planting.

The dates, when given, are only approximate. Like @Kachina624 said, if you will possibly be out of town I would recommend shopping at your local garden center. It's really the nature of this product. It's all dependent on weather and the vendors do not have control so can't give a definitive answer.

I would NEVER buy plants from a shopping channel. Go to a nursery so you can SEE what you're buying. Plants from a nursery are MUCH BETTER QUALITY than those QVC sells.

Don't drive anymore and don't get to local nurseries anymore. I have bought plants from QVC, HSN and Amazon. Haven't had a problem and pleased with the products and service....

Not necessarily.

I have purchased many beautiful and thriving plants from both Cottage Farms, Roberta's and Phillip Watson.

They have varieties NOT sold at my local nurseries.

No diff than ordering from catalogs, which we have also done w/ great success.

I have had many plants die that were purchased locally, AND you don't get any guarantees unless THEY plant them for you.

Vendors with QVC GIVE warranties.

WRONG. The nurseries where I buy my plants DO give guaratees when I plant them. I have seen the SAME varieties that QVC sells at the nurseries that I buy from.

I don't think any online source can give you exact shipping dates unless you're ordering at the time it is considered safe to plant in your zone. So, if you're ordering ahead, you won't get an exact ship date. They don't really do it by what the weather is currently doing, but by zone. QVC does give approximate ship dates by zone.

I buy online all the time because I can get varieties I can't get at my local nurseries and most tend to focus on plants for sun. I buy a lot local too. But, I'll never again buy plants from a shopping channel.

WRONG. The nurseries where I buy my plants DO give guaratees when I plant them. I have seen the SAME varieties that QVC sells at the nurseries that I buy from.

@layla2450, absolutely not wrong. Maybe wrong for YOU and YOUR LOCATION but not everywhere.

I can even go so far as to guarantee that many locations do not even have local plant nurseries let alone ones with the range of varieties offered on Q.

I won't be buying anymore online plants. The last two springs, I purchased. Both times I had to call and replace those that didn't make it. Then, the replacements didn't make it. I babied them along for several months, and it wasn't me. Yes, they do stand by and replace, but that could go on forever.

I've had better luck at the grocery store.
