Christmas programming…disgusted

It seems, despite the opinion of so many for many years now, that Christmas is all about the gifts, and the true meaning has been dispensed with. How very woke of you! I am fully understanding of the fact that not everyone celebrates Christmas, but at the very least, there was respect in this regard. Your airing of repeat shows to make a buck has me turning my back on you as a shipping option. Shame on you!

Sorry it makes you " disgusted", but QVC is a retail business, not an entertainment channel. With all the talk about they are doing financially right now, they are doing the right thing by driving sales. There are plenty of other channels showing holiday programs.

I agree, I for one don't want to see qvc Christmas shows they used to do. Don't care about their families, their recipes, and most importantly don't want to be read to. I watch qvc to shop, nothing else

@Moonie Your perspective is puzzling. It's a shopping channel! You're mad because they feature shopping opportunities as repeat presentations even on Christmas? No one says you have to order if commercial transactions on Christmas Day offend you.

Do you think Macy's is putting on a Christmas pageant instead of selling sweaters or perfume?? Seen any crèches or other Christian symbols of the holiday on display for tradition's sake, but not for sale at Target?

If you want Christmas content, there's plenty on TV that's festive, religious, romantic or lighthearted. QVC exists only to "make a buck", as you put it. What part of that should be religious or respectful of the meaning of the holiday? It's just routine programming. And what makes you think a channel dedicated to retail selling is sacrilegious by continuing to sell?

Change the channel. You clearly don't understand why QVC is in business.

I tend to agree with the OP. I was just thinking how I miss the old QVC Christmas. I enjoyed watching the different segments. And, IMO, QVC has long ceased to be a "shopping" channel and has morphed into a pseudo "entertainment" channel. For one day it could cease pushing its overpriced, redudant items.

I'm sure those cooking segments, reading of stories, and all the family get togethers cost money to produce and take an incredible amount of time. Probably not worth the effort for the few people who watched them. QVC is just like any other online retailer in that if I want to purchase something today I can, if not that's ok too.

@willomenia Agree. The "We're one big happy family" days back in the day worked, but not anymore. We hear enough about their families and vacations on air as it is. This year's programming hasn't bother me in the least. I have been enjoying the Hallmark movies and Murder, She Wrote DVDs I got from the library!

I doubt most retailers will get into the religious aspects because there will be those who will attempt to destroy them. We have seen this in the past.

Same here. Hallmark Channels have become my new QVC leave on in the background channel. I have a beautiful fully equipped kitchen thanks to QVC & Tjmaxx mostly. No need for more in that department and I've been happy with buying Talbots clothes especially when a good sale price is offered. Hallmark channels were new to me pre pandemic & during the chaotic and scary pandemic I found the channels comforting. People complain that their shows are one note, there is a lot of quality programming if time is taken to discover those shows.

I don't watch the Q on their, well deserved, Christmas break. Solves the problem.

There's an abundance of programs/movies to watch for the holiday. Something for everyone to enjoy.

For a moment of relaxation, I'll stare at the Yule Logs, and Yule Dog on GAF, while listening to the holiday music.

A lot of the replay is already sold out. Seems like a waste to show it again. Should just play yule log until they come back with new programming. Just my opinion.

Many of us had a holiday tradition of watching the WestChester parade, and seeing footage of hosts with their guard down ( baking holiday treats, singing carols etc). We enjoyed seeing their families and husbands on air. I would have the programming on as family gathered for Christmas in my home. Old timers remember Steve Bryant reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas" on air accompanied by his dog Mandy. That would end the traditional programming for the day and then QVC would air quaint family friendly holiday programming - no sales. QVC is admirable for giving employees off for the holiday but we clamor for the traditional way things were done starting in the 1990s. I have sent a letter to QVC regarding this matter. Lets hope they reconsider next year.

I for one am happy that QVC no longer shows all the family films for Christmas. There are only so many times you can see hosts that no longer work at QVC baking cookies and decorating Christmas trees.
