Camera closeups as hosts taste food

May I offer a suggestion? Please stop with the closeups as a host taste food items. The closeup forces the host to display a fake, uncomfortable reaction. I see this with every host. The only exception is David V. He will go to great lengths to wait for a closeup so he can display his always-the-same reaction: eyes close, head rolls around. Same thing every time. Looks very fake.
Just keep the camera shot where it is (on host and guest). Let the hosts take their bites and do their critiques without being forced into a closeup-induced phony reaction.

Phony reaction? This is TV Sales. It's the same acting that got them the gig as a host in the first place. They're doing their job, and apparently closeups work for a lot of viewers out there. QVC is doing more and more of them -- it's TV.

Ever watch a beauty show? Now those are closeups.

One of the ex-hosts would take a tiny bite and then talk as if her mouth was full. Very exaggerated. It was gross.

There is one current host who does something similar, but it's not as exaggerated.

I find it hard to be offended watching activities everyone does on a daily basis, within reason, of course. We all eat; it's not a repulsive act.

Eating tasty food is a joyful, satisfying experience, best shared. The hosts do a good job in appearing to have fun tasting the food items being presented, hoping that energy will transmit to the viewer.

Fake reactions, or not, is beside the point. They are doing their job. It sells, which IS the point.

Exactly! They are tasting the food which is what they're supposed to do. I think people look for things to be offended by and nit pick everything a host says or does.

@Daisy Sunflower I'm not sure how they'd do that. I haven't noticed, perhaps not studying mouths closely enough. It must be a special talent.

@Daisy Sunflower Seriously???? A host took a tiny bite...you felt it was exaggerated and gross?? On the side of caution, perhaps you should consider a diet of smoothies with straws. Afterall, you wouldn't want to gross yourself out eating.

I am with you. I have never paid close attention to the nose hair demos. I was watching the other night and a host (who will remain nameless) so that the thread does not get deleted, had that thing so far up her nose. They kept doing a close up so I stopped looking at her. Then she kept mentioning she was listening for the satisfying crunch noise. I was thinking nose hairs? Then I got her meaning. I was absolutely disgusted and changed the channel.
