Monifa on Monday night…

More of Monifa on prime time, please! I really enjoyed her! She was great with Gary and the TSV. Sandra and Monifa work well together. Best Monday night in a long time.

It's nice to have a change of pace and a diverse group of hosts. However, I am sure Monifa is very nice but she does not capture my attention long. I find her a little boring. I'm not against her changing to this time slot, if others are enjoying her.

Monifca has a casual, breezy way about her that is very appealing but I think her hosting skills are awful. She can't describe anything except in the most basic terms, i.e. pretty, cute, beautiful. No useful information is given.

Limited vocabulary.

When she showed clothing on the rack, which were jammed together, she didn't touch them to separate the pieces. She went through the colors and showed only about 3-4" of each item, just the edge.

When Gary and Sandra joined her they pointedly separated the items and pulled each piece out and held it up so the viewer got a good look at it.

I'm not sure Monifca is going to make it as a host even with the remedial help she's getting.

I think you hit the nail on the head @Kachina624 . Her style of minimal description, casual, laid back is why I find it uninteresting enough to watch and hold my attention. Again, she seems very sweet but just doesn't seem too interested in what she is demonstrating.

She's 👍 great. I hope to see her do more fashion shows. I like that she doesn't yell at us, talk about herself incessantly, mug for the camera.

I agree with many of the assessments:

Monifa is very pleasant, but I found her to be lackluster and overly subdued when alone, guestless on Q2.

It seems that she really needs the energy of an on-set guest and/or a cohost.

With these additions on Q1, pairing with Jennifer and Sandra for example, she is becoming a better host.

I tend to agree with all the points above which is why I framed my post the way I did. I commented that she was great on prime time and partnered well with Sandra. Genuinely trying to keep comments positive and give well deserved credit for a job well done. I realize she's learning. All-in-all, it was such a nice change.

Mary Beth has has too many qualities that some of he others lack.The one i admire the most is she does not talk when others are speaking!

@mspemberley Hasn't she been around a couple of years now? She should be pretty well polished at this point..

Monifa seems like a sweet person. She comes across as very pleasant, easy going, down-to-earth, likable. Last week I was watching TV and during a commercial switched to QVC, as I often do during a commercial. In the 5 minutes or so that I had QVC on, the host mispronounced several words, at least five. I will comment about one. I know we all have regional accents, I am well aware that I do, too. That's not what I mean. When presenting a Koolaburra Item, she pronounced it as Kahlua-bare-ah. In my opinion, the brand name of the product that you are selling should be stated correctly no matter what part of the country you hail from. Even if in personal conversation you say it however it rolls off of your tongue, in a professional setting, I believe it should be said correctly.

I like her, but she talks way too much! Have often seen the vendor try to describe an item, but Monifa cuts in with her own 'host' speak.

Personally do not like her style...She comes across as smiley, peppy and casual. But, her inability to listen AND converse without excessive interruptions, mundane chatter and comments including, uh huh's, yeah's, hmmm, yes, sure, etc, cutting off and running roughshod over the vendor is rude, obnoxious, and domineering...I'll leave it there. Do not watch anything she either hosts, co-hosts or backs-up a host on set.

I agree that she appears to be a sweet lady, but is lacking in the host department because she rarely describes anything in detail. I do not believe she puts any effort in her position.

@PhilaLady1 Just checking out channels this afternoon and happened on I assume the show you mentioned being rerun this afternoon, 9-4 on Q2 and just heard this Koolaburra mis-pronunciation "Kahlua-bare-ah" several times embellished with her incessant chatter. She did a presentation with "Women With Control Renee's" backup and Monifa was running roughshod over this young woman so she barely could say anything...truly obnoxious! Will not watch Monifa but wanted to see an item being presented so held out and tolerated a short while. This appeared to be The Monifa Show! Could not take any more and left...

Honestly Monifa has been left alone to work QVC2 on the graveyard shift and I could be wrong, but she may not have been mentored enough. Let’s be honest, just like on the school yard, the Q seems to have a few “cliques” when it comes to hosts, so before throwing her out with the bath water, I would say pair her up with Jayne Brown or Sandra for a while for a little extended training. But honestly, I’m surprised by some of the comments regarding Monifa when most folks complain about the endless chatter of Jane T, Kourtney, Shawn and Amy. And side bar, I like watching all the the 4 hosts I just mentioned. And I just watched Kirsten describing the Kim Gravel TSV and she bombed every color of the jeans except black…twice! All I kept thinking was that this is the TSV so how was she not prepared before going on air? Yikes!! And Kirsten has been there for years. But maybe with a mentor and some additional tweaking, Monifa might get better. I like watching her, but I don’t watch the graveyard shifts that much because of my work schedule.

@livinthelife101 Monifa is has joined Jennifer Coffey in her weekly Perfect Accessories show on Fridays on the main channel. She's been manning the social media chair, and handling a couple of the item presentations there for a few weeks now. She's not exactly co-hosting, but I guess it's a start.

She's also joining Pat James Dementri today at noon in the Hot Deals show. It seems QVC is giving her more opportunities to hone her hosting skills by letting her work in the main studio more.

I think for me her hosting skills are just "flat". She seems lovely and pleasant, but I think she should be paired up with a good co-host, or vendor, that can move it along. I am over the hard sellers, no names need to be mentioned, so there is a place for someone more subdued. There are a couple of new female hosts and a new man that all seem to fit right in. Maybe she just needs a little more confidence building or presentation training.

I have found those with the radio or news background seem to do better with describing the items than those that did not come from those areas. They HAD to be better at explaining a situation "live"or providing a visual for someone listening to the radio.
