FOOD SHOWS EXPENSIVE

Ok, I am tired of all the food shows. The prices are absolutely through the roof and I don't care if it is on easy pay. I bought cookies last Christmas from the Cheryl's brand and they were all broken and a real mess. Prime rib on TV, don't think so. When I look at reviews they are not very favorable. I say we do our best to shop our local grocers and local butchers when possible. I know there are supply chain issues but we need to really help our local businesses. QVC you need to scale down the food shows, all Rachel does is yell about the food and interrupt everyone that is talking. Alberti is just as bad. No need to "YELL" to get the customers attention.

I'm pretty sure that QVC shows what sells. If people didn't watch and purchase food items they would not have these shows. They are not concerned that a handful of people on the forums don't like to see food shows.

Much of the food shown on QVC comes from small businesses.

Not all, but a number of the sweets and confections.

Food margins are high for Qurate and the category is quite successful. I envision the expansion of food offerings and airings.

For someone who can no longer go to local super markets, QVC is great for us. I enjoy the food shows and I do buy , so I am one who watches the food shows.

As one who has never and is not likely to buy food from any shopping channel I agree with the OP. I understand people who are homebound but most local stores deliver, I think, and there are other options for ordering food online.

The only food item I tried are the honeybell's on tsv each year when. Maybe I got a bad batch, but the quality wasn't as good as clementines I can buy at the grocery store. Howevre, they were expensive. I'm not interested in buying cookies from QVC. When I look at the ingredients, they don't look like anything special. Yet, they wouldn't be as fresh as homemade.

As far as the food is concerned, I think you have to decide what fits into your life style to see if it is worth it to you.

I get the Heartland 5 oz boneless chicken breasts and for me it is economical. If I get the 18 count, they are $6 each. They are very good and I use part of one on a salad and eat the rest for lunch the next day.

For me, that is okay. I can't go to the store, get the chicken, cut it up, season it, cook it and freeze it. I don't have the energy and stamina anymore.

As far as some of the other food, I usually get Mrs P's apples for Christmas. Again, I used to do them myself. Buy all the stuff, make my own candied pecans, chop them, make the caramel, dip, etc etc. Can't do it anymore. I've always had good luck with Mrs P's and for me, it's a good buy.

Would I buy most of the other stuff.......no because it would not fit my life and wallet. Everyone must choose for themselves.

Rachel and Alberti?........won't buy anything they are selling........too loud and obnoxious.

As often as they have food shows, even with their generous return policy, they must be tremendously profitable which is why they've seemed to have increased in number. Since Rachel and Alberti are so often paired for these shows, they must have terrific sales. QVC is in the sales business and will go where the profits are. When people quit buying, they'll quit selling.

I agree @Johnnyeager Food is successful, and we are seeing that more and more. What I can't get past is the easy pay. I can see easy pay on big ticket items, or maybe even if you choose an expensive food item you want to serve for the holiday. But, for the candy and cookies etc.

You will eat them in no time and be paying for 5 months! That defies logic to me.

In general, I do find the food items overly expensive. Hubby is always calculating the price per piece. But, if you look at it as how much would you pay for that item in a restaurant, it's not so expensive. I do occasionally buy a food item. Mostly, I get the St. Clair Sides if I like the combination offered for Thanksgiving/Christmas and for me it's a bargain because it just reduces the stress and I probably would spend that much if I tried to duplicate those dishes. I have tried local, Cracker Barrell, grocery stores that offer pre-made sides, none of which I liked. I happen to actually like the St. Clair sides, although I won't order if a broccoli dish is one of the sides.

I wouldn't order anything that requires dry ice to ship right now. I also don't use EZ pay although I really wish QVC wouldn't make that the default.

When I purchase food items from QVC, it's usually because of the convenience and packaging or if I want something special to serve guests. I used to buy Cheryl's Cookies from the Q or on their website and, since I'm not a baker, they're not something I could duplicate myself for less money. I love Rastelli's burgers and haven't found anything in our freezer sections of local grocery stores to compare. I've been online for cakes before and find their prices very much in line. Shipping & handling is "free" but don't we all know that cost is figured in to the items? I live in a relatively small town and many of the items they sell cannot be ordered and delivered locally.

I'm not a food buyer (both health and quantity reasons for the most part), but I can also say I will most likely not spend any QVC money on either makeup or jewelry or home decor items. Even winter clothes and shoes are off my buy list.

Note that if QVC were to eliminate what I don't intend to buy, they would most likely be out of business within a month. Yet, even with all the categories in which I buy seldom or never, I still manage to have multiple items on EZPay virtually 12 months of the year and some items on AD, too.

I tried steaks from Q about 20 years ago. They were so bad that I haven't bought any food from Q since and don't plan to.

There are so many places that ship or deliver food from local stores to specialty retailers. Most of them are less expensive than Q. If you go directly to the vendor's site, there are often deals or promo codes that make the price less than what Q offers.

I found a local market that buys meat from farmers in my midwest farming state (not from big corporate farms) and the prices are more than reasonable. They also offer tasty/tender chicken and have an outstanding deli.

I order seafood from a fishery in Alaska. The prices are comparable to most local grocery stores but the quality is 1,000 times better. Their shipping is expensive so I order just once or twice a year so I can get enough for free shipping. I love and eat a lot of seafood.

I feel I DO get a good value and excellent quality and it is very comparable to such services as Schwann.

I never presume to tell people how to spend their money.

Of course the food is expensive. You are paying for someone else to make it and bring it to your door.

I think some convenience products are totally worth it. I pay for Walmart to grate my cheese and put it in those nice 2 cup zip top bags. I pay for Rhodes to make cinnamon rolls and freeze them so I can bring them home to bake. I pay for Dole to put all the ingredients together in one bag for a chopped sunflower seed salad. You have to decide for yourself what you are willing to pay for.

Costco, Sams, larger grocery stores offer much of what is presented on the food shows at way better pricing. QVC obviously continues to make bank on those items, if not they'd stop selling them.
