@walker I agree, it should list where it's made.

However, I think QVC will not make this update because it would result in some shoppers deciding against purchasing the item.

If the item was described as made in America, it would probably help sales since many shoppers would like to support those businesses. I would like to, and would even pay a little more if I knew that my purchase was supporting US industry.

@walker, with over 8,000 posts you should be well aware that imported does not always mean China. In my closet there are three of the same top in three different colors with labels from three different countries.

Is Q to list yellow in size ? is from Thailand, blue in size ? if from Mexico, red in size ? is from China. Multiply that information by each size and color and there would be no time to talk about the product. The information would also have to be endlessly repeated for those that may have missed it the first or second or third time.

I do agree, however, that if a product is from a single country of origin that specific country should be listed.

QVC started having their clothing made in other countries besides China. On a few occasions I have seen QVC gave country of origin for clothing, but they were not China.

Isaac and Logo will continue to be made in China according to Xcel, the company now managing them.

I agree, though, where clothing is made should be indicated on the online website as it is on clothing labels.

There is a Federal law that requires all clothing labeled as to the country of origin...The Fashion Law. Here is an excerpt from that law.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) require and enforce labeling laws and acts in the United States.

“In general, textile and apparel products sold in the United States must be labeled with the following information: the fiber content, the country of origin, the manufacturer or dealer identity, and the care instructions.”

What needs a label?

Put simply: all apparel and accessories need labels per federal law. Apparel products that contain wool, leather, or fur have additional requirements, as do footwear products.

These requirements are governed by the Federal Trade Comission (FTC), which is responsible for furthering consumer protection by ensuring that businesses provide information regarding the contents and origins of consumer goods. It should be noted that certain states have specific labeling.

When retailers ignore public requests, maybe, a nudge from another source is necessary like adding it to this law. Adding the name of a country for each item online is not a hardship for them. Why shouldn't we know where something is made before we buy it? Best bet is to contact your legislators.

This is how retailers get away with not telling us the country of origin online.

When do you need to label?

Labels containing fiber content, country of origin, identification of the manufacturer, importer, or other dealer, and care instructions must be present at the time the end user takes possession of the goods. The labeling requirements do not apply until the products are ready for sale to consumers.

We can see the country of origin on the label when we take possession of the item....after we receive it.

I absolutely care about where the products are made. If a cosmetic is from China, I might keep it,but will not reorder.

I am from Italy and I spend tons of time there. Chinese take over Italian stores and open factories ( where the conditions are the same as in China).

They want their products to be " made in Italy" . My aunt sold her coffee bar to a Chinese man.

I am grateful that Laura Geller sold her company many years ago, but her items are still mostly made in Italy.

The director of the FBI came out and issued a warning about China yesterday and companies need to listen. China is a real threat to the USA and many other nations. It would be a simple thing for QVC to show consumers the country of origin under product description. To date this has been hidden and it is not fair to consumers who care about where their purchases originate. It would then be our choice as opposed to seeing, buying, receiving, being disappointed.

It'd be easier to list what is made in the US. The US is not a manufacturing country anymore.

I don't care where something is made. I care about quality, price, and if it's something I like.

Remember, if the US doesn't buy from other countries, other countries won't buy from the US.
