FOOD QUANTITIES

I would love to order some of the wonderful food packages offered. However, it's just me in a small apartment, with a cube fridge, meaning no freezer space. Ordering 10 crabcakes or 20 pot-stickers or 10 steaks isn't practical. QVC, CAN YOU PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SINGLE SENIOR CITIZEN CUSTOMERS?

That's not going to happen. Food items come with "free" shipping which costs them probably $15-20. They wouldn't make any money shipping a tiny amount of food. Or another way to look at it -- the shipping cost would be more than the food contents so QVC would have to charge a crazy amount for the smaller quantity just to make up for the high shipping cost associated with it.

Depending on your budget , maybe one of those Meal kits companies like Gobble or Freshly would work for you . They are abt $12 a meal and offer flexiblity in ordering.

@13SHOPS. It's not economically feasible for QVC to sell a very small quantity. Best to get your crab cake fix in a restaurant and cook things at home that you can buy in small quanity.

They do PAY ATTENTION. I'm a SINGLE SENIOR CITIZEN CUSTOMER. What you want is for them to pay attention to a SINGLE SENIOR CUSTOMER with a small freezer.

Crab cakes taken out of the box really don't seem to take up much freezer space, at least for me. They're small enough that they can be wedged into corners or open spaces. Steaks stack nicely. If I know I'm having a freezer food delivery I start a few days prior using what's in the freezer. The day I have a delivery I plan at least one meal from it that evening and place it in the fridge.

@13SHOPS QVC sells food items in larger quantities because it's more in demand and more revenue driven for them as a company.

You may want to try Amazon Fresh. You can order single items of things, and when you reach their minimum dollar amount (usually $35) they deliver same day. I've done it a few times when I've forgotten items on my grocery list and don't want to go back to the store.

Your local grocery store probably has grocery deliveries as well as prepared meals and meal kits for delivery. There are many other places to get food for singles, and I bet the prices are far better than QVC.

Wegman's has great prepared foods for delivery; one of my favorite places.

You might try what I do with Costco or Sam's Club. Find another single friend and split the quantities and the cost. Just last week a coworker and I split two different items from Costco so neither of us had more than we could use before the items spoiled/went stale. I do this every year during Christmas in July with the Junior's Cheesecake singles. Once the box comes in we split them up and then neither of us has more than we need for the holidays.

In much of the country, Schwan's delivers frozen food items personally, including many items that are single portions or smaller quantities. They're comparable in quality to the items on qvc--not fabulous but quite good--and much less expensive for most things. Big selection, including lots of veggies, so you can get just about everything from them if you need to.

@Caaareful Shopper. The trouble is, Amazon Fresh only delivers in large urban areas. As large as Albuquerque is, the service is not available here which makes me feel cheated on my Prime membership. We also don't get a Wegman's.

@Kachina624 That does narrow it down a lot; surprised about Amazon Fresh. Do your grocery stores have prepared foods and delivery service? My Giant Foods, Safeway, Fresh Market and BJ's do, but perhaps that's only in more populated areas as well. I'm not sure.

@Caaareful Shopper I'm not able to get Amazon Fresh either. Our grocery stores, including Fresh Market, always have prepared foods. I hope eventually Amazon Fresh will be available here.

Amazon is building a big new warehouse here so maybe there's hope.

@Kachina624 They just announced they're building a new Amazon warehouse in this area, too.
