What is with that TO GATHER HEART EMBLEM ON EVERY ITEM ?

I clicked on a few,my favorites T.T. but every time I search an item there is this Grey heart upper right hand corner I haven't clicked on anymore I think it is a scam like FACEBOOK, MARKETING SCAM I get enough spam,e-mails phone calls, and postal mail all scams advertising.

I think it's to ""love it"" on your To-Gather account/page. There may be a number before the heart representing how many people have done this.

I'd guess they've invested a pretty penny in this and it's utterly stupid... Even in the non-Q world where there is no end to what to 'heart' or not heart, I personally question the day to day utility of this sort of thing, yes even Pinterest, but given the finite number of products offered by QVC it makes absolutely no sense at all. I think they've over-done the whole emphasis on 'social shopping' and this strikes me as a real waste of time, effort, and particularly a waste of their revenue.

My question isn't why QVC does this, but why do so, so many people fall for this stuff.

Beyond spending our dollars for things we really like and need/want, I just don't get all the "joining." I know I'm outside the norm because every place I go I see people glued to their phones, absolutely unable to make a decision or live for an hour without verbal "feed." I'd bet money millions of those people participate in the "like me" campaigns. When businesses from the local pizza shop right on up to the huge companies like QVC are begging us to heart them or like them or whatever, you can carry your money to the bank betting that for now at least, the technique is working.

I use Firefox and have Adblocker. I don't see those hearts. I have to disable Adblocker to order with mrrebates, and the hearts show up then, so I do know what they are, but I don't see them during a normal browsing session. Get Adblocker if you want to get rid of the hearts.

I ignore that heart when I look at products and I don't look at ToGather anymore.

Thank you everybody for your input and advice.

I will try Ad-block, and another pet peeve is those annoying SURVE'YS? it is everywhere,online,e-mails, CALL a Company right away ask for a survey?what is up with SURVEYS? who invented SURVEY'S??? ANOTHER MARKETING SCAM LIKE TO GATHER.

I do not think "scam" means what you think it means.

Just because you do not like something, or you find it obnoxious or annoying, does not mean it is a scam. These are legitimate social networking and/or marketing tools. It is fine to choose not to participate -- no one is forcing you to -- but to claim them to be "scans" is disingenuous.

I'd agree that simply because something might be annoying to some folks or seem to serve very little purpose doesn't make it a scam...

The pop-up website surveys have become a bit ridiculous. I have to believe most companies know whether or not their websites are well executed and are functional.
